There is a person that is causing trouble with people that writes their opinon on declawing and that he will report them if they say anything about it. I will ask that person does people opinons stink if they tell a person that has asked a question about declawing and what the cat went through and how the cat is doing etc. What happened to FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

Harassing and Taunting is a violation of the guidelines. I will ask the person are you going to do what you have done to me to them . Because if you do that to me I will report you and I have the RIGHT TO SAY WHAT I FEEL LIKE SAYING. EVEN IF IT IS ABOUT DECLAWING.PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY WHAT THEY THINK.

How would people like to have a cat that jumps across the room to get to your back with claws out and then slides down your back with claws ripping your back all up and you have tried every thing and it did not work. My cat loves water and that did not work and the Vet clipped her claws and that did not work and you tried a scratching post and she was very scared of it . What would you do?

I've owned about 7 or 8 cats and every one of them has been declawed. It doesn't cause pain to the anesthetized kitty.

You'd think from the way animal rights nutjobs react that the cat was awake for the procedure. That it was forced down on a dirty table, and its claws were yanked out with rusty pliers.

I can't imagine one cat owner who'd want cuts on their arms, their floors scratched or their shower curtains sliced. If the cat is solely an indoor cat, that's even more reason to declaw it.

As for the freedom of speech issue, its been proven that the people who would most likely be against a cat being declawed (the whacko types that call themselves "progressives") don't care about any opinion other than their own.

Unless you are living somewhere ( like the United Kingdom) where declawing , and tail docking and ear cropping is illegal there is no one for that person to report you to.( there may of course be some cities and or states where it is locally illegal)

It is not illegal nation wide in the United States, to declaw a cat.....some people don't approve, and wish it were, but so far their wishes have not made it so. Sometimes declawing is the difference between euthanizing an otherwise nice kitty for clawing and destroying furniture, drapes, etc ( there are times when nothing, and I mean nothing stops a cat from clawing things) other times the cat has a deformity of the foot.....I saw a cat once that had 9 claws on one front foot, no extra ( as least to the naked eye enyway) toes either, and 7 claws on the other. It had extra claws between its toes, and the animal was most uncomfortable as the extras had no sheaths, when I saw the cat the extras had grown round and were cutting into his feet.
He was scheduled to be euthanized,.
so......... Never declaw???
like a lot of things its a personal descision, between you, your cats personality, and your vet.

I would do anything other than declawing - no matter what the situation. I work with an animal rescue team and have been working with stray and abandoned cats for 20 years. Many of those cats I fostered in my home. I have seen behavioral patterns and abuse symptoms that you would not believe. I would never maim and traumatize any living creature for any reason. This site tells you some of the reasons, but not all, by any means...

If you are having a problem with other users, write to the Yahoo people or switch boards. Why are you telling us this? Although, frankly, I am not at all sure what you are describing, as far as what was done to you. But, none of us can help you. The people that run the board are pretty fair in my experience, but if you don't get satisfaction, go elsewhere. Or block your e-mail from whoever is sending you undesirable messages.

And, btw, this is not a public space, therefore it does not need to promote freedom of speech. Yahoo can limit our freedom of speech and if we don't like it, we can go somewhere else. Also, obviously, the person you are talking about thinks what you said about declawing stinks. Why do you care? We all think there are people on this board whose opinions stink, that's kind of the point.

OK?

This is where people have so got it all wrong. What we don't all see the same is what makes this place interesting. We all have different views - the idea is not to all think the same. Hey if eanyone gave me enough good reason to, I'd probably be for declawing, but it hasn't happened. I'm not about to report anyone for their views though.
That's jsut pathetic - and I think the Abuse Team see it for what it is - abusiveness towards other people on here, so I bet they just laugh, and if the person carries on they'd most likely be without an account very soon.

Wow, don't know what to do about that one. I have cat scratches on my body at all times....and sometimes they hurt. I also have many tears on my furniture, I have excepeted this as the price of helping and loving animals. Do a google or yahoo search on all the negative health effects for cats after being declawed. Do your cats get lots of play time and do you have things for them to climb on and scratch on? I found some nice priced cat furniture that my cats love to claw. I hope this helps.

If this person is reporting you for no good reason- and that's what it looks like from where I'm sitting- then you can report this person for harassment. The Yahoo team takes a dim view of trolls.

You got reported because you said cats should be declawed? That's crazy.

Personally, i don't believe in declawing cats, but you do have the RIGHT to do so....
