I believe it does cause some memory loss. If you have trouble paying attention, you're certainly going to remember less, I would think. That seems to be the case with my son, who has adhd. He has trouble following multiple step directions. You can't tell him a list of chores or errands, he can only remember one or two at a time, and usually only one item at a time.

I wouldn't say "loss". But rather, misplaced thoughts. My son has this, and he goes from one thought to another, to another, to another, and so on. He once described thinking like an engine running fast and it won't slow down. Meds helped him tremendously.

No, it just makes it hard to pay attention, so it never actually gets INTO memory.
