Interesting answers…
We can hardly blame the organized church for the actions of its adherents. Having said that, there is much for which we can blame the church, the list is a long and damning one.
Pius was under great pressure to condemn the Nazis. He had his reasons for not doing so and they were mostly economical and pretty pathetic. His excuse was that he, the Pope, was responsible for maintaining the Vatican Treasures and they were many.
German officers, usually a well educated military cadre, were aware of the value of art and other treasures in the occupied Europe and some officers looted treasure in every country Germany overran.
The Gestapo, at Hitler’s direction, guarded the treasure in the Vatican cellars from German officers and these Gestapo guards were allowed to leave without being taken prisoner by US forces at the fall of German occupation.
The OSS arrived at the Vatican gates and allowed the Gestapo to flee under an agreement with Pope Pius, not the Pope’s finest moment.
As soon as the OSS took over the safety of the Vatican the Pope denounced the Nazis the very same day.
Did he play it safe at the expense of his reputation? Yes.
Did he save the wealth of the Vatican? Yes!
Was this disgusting? Yes.
Would most people have done the same in his shoes? Yes. Would the Pope have been condemned by society if he had denounced Hitler and lost the treasure? Yes.
Sadly, it all boils down to the…money!

De Gaulle,Andenauer and Kennedy were all Catholics. Does that mean that the Catholic Church was the savior of Western Democracy? Since the majority of Europe was at least nominally Catholic chances are that there would have been baptized Catholics involved in everything. The majority of Nazis happened to be baptized Protestants.
Pius XII sensibly did not excomminicate any of the 3 Facisti because that would have unleashed a massive persecution of Catholics.
Hitler hated Catholicism anf Mussolini was not a practicing Catholic and like Franco tried to use the Church the way he tried to use everything for his own ends.
Most Spanish Catholics were grateful to the "authoritarian
Phalangist "Franco because he ended the brutal and bloody persecution of Catholics in Spain during the Civil War.
Mussolini wanted a tomb like a pagan Roman emperor's not like a Catholic king's. Hitler wanted nothing Catholic in his memorial and as little as possible in his planned capital Germania.

well, duh! The Catholic Church turned a cold shoulder to the suffering of the Jews during WW2, denying them sanctuary. So, by default, yeah I think they did support Fascism, by tacit agreement, if not by outright rejection. Look at this way, if I were to come upon you being assaulted in an alleyway, knew what was happening, yet turned away and did nothing at all, doesn't that imply tacit acceptance and a cavalier "whatever" attitude? Would it matter to you how I felt? Doubtful, all you're going to care about is why I didn't DO anything, not about how I feel or if agree with it or not.

To answer your question: Yes, the Catholic Church did support Fascists. There is a fantastic book called "The Vatican Exposed: Money, Murder, and the Mafia" by Paul L. Williams. It outlines all of these things in great detail and reveals the Vatican's involvement in many illegal activities, including investments in companies that made bombs, condoms, and birth control pills, yo name a few......Read the book, it is fascinating to see how entrenched the Catholic Church was in all of this.

Pope Pius XII was known as "Hitler's Pope" for his inaction against what Hitler was doing to the Jews.
BTW, did you all hear about the current Pope's remarks about the Catholic church being the only true path to salvation, that other Christian sects are "diseased," I think was the word he used?

Some people like to rebel, and Hitler left the church because he didn't like it.
After all where in the bible does it say to kill everyone you don't like and trick those who will help you into doing so, you can always kill them later so you can own the world.
Also you should know that Hitler hated Catholics even more then you do.
