If anyone knew who Jesus was, they would know beyond a shadow of a doubt. How did they address Jesus?

Anna, these verses are for you:

Matt. 4:3: "[Satan] came and said to him: “If you are the son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.”

Matt. 4:6: "and [Satan] said to him: “If you are a son of God, hurl yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels a charge concerning you, and they will carry you on their hands, that you may at no time strike your foot against a stone."

Matt. 8:29: "And, look! [the demons] screamed, saying: 'What have we to do with you, Son of God? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time?'”

Mark 3:11: "Even the unclean spirits, whenever they would behold him, would prostrate themselves before him and cry out, saying: “You are the Son of God.”

Luke 4:41: "Demons also would come out of many, crying out and saying: “You are the Son of God."

Luke 8:28: "With a loud voice [the demon] said: “What have I to do with you, Jesus Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me."

Anna, Jesus NEVER said he was God. He called himself God's Son. (John 10:36) He called his Father the only true God. (John 17:3) At John 20:17, Jesus told Mary: "I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God." So was Jesus Mary's God? NO! Jesus' Father was, the only true God.

Repeatedly, when they were confronted by Jesus, they addressed him as son of God. Matthew 8:29 is a good example. “What have we to do with you, Son of God? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time?”

This is their form of address, over and over. They knew full well who Jesus was.

Almost everything Satan does/did is fueled by hatred, so why would the logic of what is possible, or even probable factor into his equation? Besides, Satan thought he was better than God, or at least better than a man, even if that man was the son of God. Whatever was going on in Satan's mind, Satan doesn't want God to win, so he was and is always compelled to do everything he can to take every soul he can get away from God, regardless of where that soul goes, or who it comes from. If Satan had somehow tricked Christ into sinning, that would've been game over, so yeah, he put the chips on the table, why wouldn't he? Plus, God is in control of everything, Satan's temptation of Christ happened either because God directly wanted it to, or permitted it to. Great question! It still intrigues me. :D OP: Well of course he's clever most of the time, but blinded by hatred in the face of God's son who God loved? There's no way he kept his cool in that moment, I don't think so, nor any other time he went up against God. Yes he planned and plotted and applied logic to his foolish plan, he just didn't apply logic to the part where there's no way he could defeat the Almighty. It's not that hatred blinded him completely, just to the target of his hate.

Yes, indeed they knew! When Jesus drove the demons out of the Gadarene men, in Matthew 8, the Bible says: "28When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. 29"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"

Mark 3 says: "11Whenever the evil spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, "You are the Son of God."

In Mark 5 there is the relation of Legion, when Jesus sent the demons out of a man and into a herd of pigs. He also cried out at sight of Jesus, in v. 7: "What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Swear to God that you won't torture me!" 8For Jesus had said to him, "Come out of this man, you evil spirit!"

That is full recognition of who He was and what the demons expected.

In James' letter, he also says in Chapter 2: "19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."

You see, demons and Satan know exactly who Jesus is, and exactly what He is capable of. They also know what's coming. Beyond a shadow of a doubt indeed. It's only humans that have trouble with it.

There's a T shirt I saw once that says, "When Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future."

Yes.

Jesus, Son of the Most High God (Luke 8:28)

More importantly in verse 38 and 39 Jesus says "Jesus/God has done for you"

38The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 39"Return home and tell how much God has done for you." So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.

LD...Those scriptures only prove that Jesus was in human form and had for awhile laid aside his divinity....Satan knew that he could cause by his own voice the rocks to become loaves of bread...He was chalanging Jesus to lay aside his humanity and be restored as to his rightful place as the almighty I AM...the Alpha and the Omega...scripture is very clear about this.....Remimber Jesus saying "My kingdom is not part of this World" He was not there to be God He was there to show us how he God could humble himself and lay aside divinity for us....What a great gift!

Yes they did believe Jesus was God and they fled on command under Jesus' own authority.

Luke 4:36
All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!"

___

What did Thomas call Jesus in John 20:28-29?

Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Jesus is God in the human form. He admitted it Himself!

Satan was next to God before the Son of God came. In fact,he and some angels rebelled against God because the coming of the Son undermined their position. There was no question but Satan and his henchmen did not just believe that Jesus was but knew that he was the Son of God.In the Bible they always address him suitably./

They knew him well and were acquainted with him before he was transferred to earth as a human to full fill a promise, and because of this promise and much more that we cant get into here they had a respectable fear of him.Note they were never surprised to see him on earth as a man, and they knew his given power .

They knew exactly who He was.

And He made self-claims:

John 8:58 & John 10:30

He was either nuts....or....He was telling us the truth.

I tend to believe that He was who He says He was
