Hypocisy - Pretending to be what one is not. The New Testament meaning of " hypocrisy " and " hypocrite " reflects its use in Greek theater, a hypocrite was one who wore a mask and played a part on the stage, imitating the speech, mannerisms, and conduct of the character portrayed.

Throughout His ministry, Jesus vigorously exposed and denounced the hypocrisy of many who opposed Him. especially the scribes and Pharisees. They paraded their charitable deeds, praying and fasting as a theatrical display to win the praise of the people ( Matt. 6:1-2, 5, 16 ). They sought to give the appearance of being godly, but they were actually blind to the truth of God ( Luke 20:19-20 ).

The apostle Paul encountered hypocrisy amoung some Jewish christians, who refused to eat with the Gentile converts. Paul pointed out that " sincere love " is one of the marks of christian ministry. And he exhorted his readeds to behave like christians: " Let love be without hypocrisy " ( Rom. 12:9 ).

Hypocrisy is doing one thing while saying something else. Its phoniess. SOmetimes ppl will be with one person and be a certain way and be totatally diffrent with someone else. That is hypocrisy. ITs also hyprocasy to say you must live a certain way and simply not do it. You are correct we must consider our lives and our actions and see if they line up alongside Gods Holy Word.
Yes, I like you, as you speak truth and live it. GOd will bless you for speaking truth. God tells us to live truth, speak truly, lovingy, but boldly, without fear or compromise. You are doing just that
I was once married to a man years ago that was a church deacon. He would stand up and preach against the sins of adultry among other things, and yet my daughter, granddaguther and I found him with another woman. Thats hypocrisy. I have forgive him and now pray for him. But we must practice what we preach or God will not acknowledge us. He tells us that. So there can be no falseness with GOd. HE says we are either fully His or we arent His at all.
Great question. Press on with Jesus. amen

I guess hypocracy could be the act of saying one thing and acting out something else. For ex: people who say they are Christain, but never go to church, or people who say they are Christain and go to church every sunday, but as soon as they get home they act as worldly people would. Some people may not even realize that they are doing this, but a lot of people do it. I have known many people that say they area of a certain religion, but don't actually do anything about it. It's sad really.

all and sundry who claimes to be a feminist-not one that in basic terms is of an identical opinion with their philosophy-yet a real feminists, is a social aberation. oftentimes void of any expertise of her place as a girl in the grand scheme of issues. i'm a guy. won't be able to alter it and society won't enable me to stay away from that expectation that they have of a guy. SO! i'm "caught" in this place, like it or not. yet HOW stupid might i glance attempting to push my way into the conclave of the sisterhood of ladies. specific! women have HAD and nonetheless do posess specific societal protections purely through fact they're women. that's the luck of the draw. assume I have been to take the "i % equality consistant with a women" approach? might society permit ME decide out of conflict in the form of a draft? might they permit me tell the choose "i'm going to be having a headache the week of that capital homicide trial so count selection me out", or permit me on the lifeboat before the girls? i don't think of so. So, NO, i don't think of they (authentic feminist) do understand the hypocrisy of their demands/positions.

My grandma said people who live in glass houses should not throw bricks. When I think of hypocrisy, I think of glass houses. To me it is the open judgment of others for behaviors apparent in oneself. It is also judging others for behaviors that almost should be expected. I think that until one is protected by the Holy Spirit, sin is a given in that person's life. They can still be a good person, but should not held to the same standards as a Christian who has the guidance of God. When Christians begin to judge other Christians, obviously Jesus said it best :P remove the plank from your own eye before you pull the splinter from your brothers. Its an interesting way of saying you should mind your own business. :)

I think it is preaching one thing and doing another. "Don't do as I do, do like I say." Another way is being a "Sunday Christian". We need to walk the walk. This shows our heart. If we only talk, and preach, but our actions aren't in line with God, this is living as a hypocrite.
