I do try. :)
Brett A obviously doesn't know what Agnosticism really is.

I don't know. Agnostics are open minded. I can accept any religion that does not claim to be the only way. Those 2 specific ones that I am thinking of are both ridiculous and shameful in my opinion. I am close minded about Christianity and Islam.
I would say that Buddhism is pretty open minded too.

Since agnostics are technically down in the center and don't choose sides until there's absolute proof for one or the other,
I would say they are the most open minded because they don't dismiss both possibilities.

An agnostic is someone who holds that it is impossible to know whether there is a God or not.
To be an agnostic is to be open minded.
To be an agnostic is not in itself a belief.

I used to think so (when i was one), but now, I realize that in fact, agnostics are just a bunch of fence sitters, who can't make up there mind for sure about anything. I've crossed over. I'm now a believer in the hereafter (some shattering personal life experiences finally convinced me), but I truly believe it's going to be something FAR different from what most people will expect.

Probably...my best friend and I dated for a while and religion was never even a problem for him as an agnostic and me as a Christian. It was the other's faith, we discussed it but never argued about it. I think that's the true way of God, finding love in compromise and letting him take care of everyone, even the unfaithful. :)

Well.. yes and no... it's open minded in a sense to say "I dont know if there's a God or not" or as some agnostics say "God if He exists is unknowable" it SOUNDS open minded but really their mind is closed to the idea that you CAN know God.

No. The "apathetic" agnostics, a large portion, are not a contemplative bunch.

Yes, I would say so.
Heaven would be great, so a remain open toward any path that can get me there...
Alas...I know its all fiction, but neverthless, I keep an open mind.

it would be inconsistent with logic and self defeating
the formal position is that "nothing can be known about God" but that's quite a lot to know
self contraictory... and hardly open minded
it rests on a prior assumption about God that is self defeating, doesnt seem to be open to logical scrutiny
a more humble position might be in the direction that God can reveal himself to people, but hasn't revealed himself to me yet although I mayhave missed the clues

Agnosticism is not a belief. I think it could be best described as an admission.
