Yes, fastweb.com and scholarshipexperts.com and scholarships.com are great places to start. Yes people do win these scholarships, but it takes effort and you can expect to spend 50+ hours entering scholarship after scholarship. You might not win a lot, but if you enter enough and your essays, goals and luck are good you can expect to win at least one.
You can also go to your college/university and ask them about scholarships they offer, they're less selective (depending on the size). Good luck!
