one of my budgies loves exploring my hand. she just climbs around my thumb and pecks/gently bites at my fingers, fingernails and palm. sometimes she flaps her wings when she's on my hand. does this mean she wants me to get out or she is just exploring because she;'s very young. Its not that she is aggressive but she sits on my hand for hours moving around and as I move my hand, she moves with it. just want ya to get a clear picture. thanks.

If she were angry, you could tell by the tone of her voice (scolding) or by the hard nips she gives you. If she nibbles gently, she's happy with you. She will naturally flap her wings just for the fun of it.

I can address two of the behaviors that your budgie is displaying. First, parakeets don't have fingers to feel things with when are exploring, so they use their tongues. They will gently bite and lick their surroundings to learn more about them. Second, parakeets flap their wings as they hold on to their perches to get exercise. If your budgie is not flapping quickly, he is probably just stretching or rearranging his feathers. Your budgie is being a normal, curious budgie. He feels comfortable enough with you that he is relaxed enough to explore.

Sound like exploring to me, otherwise she would be biting hard and trying to get away.little nibbles is more likely she smells something on you hand and thinks it may be food so she is taste testing it so to speak. try putting a treat on your hand, like a little bit of dried fruit or nuts and see what she does. but trust me if she was mad she would bite to hurt not just little nips.
