If an individual constantly prays, reads the Bible, and tries to live Christian, and is truly sincere about having a close relationship with God, but blurts out a profanity when angered by someone who is aggressive towards them, before they can catch themselves, does this mean that person's heart is not truly changed, because they can only remain gentle and christlike when not pressured or challenged by others?

What if this happens more than once, and the person ends up quickly grabbing their mouth and saying "forgive me Lord", because the curse word rolled off of their tongue so easily. Is this a sign the person is not saved? What are your thoughts?

No Christian is without sin. Even the most Christlike person you know sins. A person gains salvation by accepting God as their Lord and Savior. The only way that can be lost is by denying Him. Therefore, if a Christian unintentionally blurts out a curse word, that doesn't mean he or she isn't saved. It just means he or she is human.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
~Romans 3:23 (New International Version)~

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."
~Ephesians 2:8 (New International Version)~

We all slip and fall, but we have to ask Jesus to help us get up again. He is there for you and he knows what anger is. Remember when he got angry and turned over the tables in the temple. He lost it because he was angry. He knows what it is like because he was human. This does not mean that you are not saved. It just means that you have to work harder at self control - one of the fruits of the spirit. Pray about it and ask the Holy Spirit to help you deal with this problem.
God does not expect us to be perfect. He knows that we need time to grow as a Christian. The fact that you are concerned about it is very good. It means that the Holy Spirit is convicting you for your lack of control.

Profanity is meaningless, but the anger is not. Anger is a natural reaction to aggression, but you're right, it's not Christ-like. Accept that it's a natural reaction, but work to make a similar situation better in the future- try to figure out a way to turn someone else's aggression into something positive.

Good luck!

it sounds like in the circumstances, the person is very genuine. Only you and God know if you are truly saved and you need to be honest with yourself to know for sure. One or two profanity words aren't going to send you to Hell. If you are sincere when asking forgiveness, God will forgive you. As long as it doesn't happen so often that it becomes habitual.

Even words that arent profanity, that are aimed to hurt someone is a sin. Saying " you are a dung heap!" is no less sinful than "you're a piece of sh*t!". But dont judge a persons salvation on a burst of anger. Thats never your job to do anyway. Every Christian who has ever lived has sinned and sinned even after they were Christians. We are no different. If we sin, and we ARE sorry and ask forgiveness, we will receive it.

It means they are human.

Christians are sinners too. Just because someone is saved does not automatically make them perfect or sinless. They still have the old human, sin nature. They are still going to make mistakes.

Most people tend to look at a Christian like they should be perfect, and they put them up on a pedestal. But that shouldn't be. The only One to be put on a pedestal is God, and the only One to live a perfect, sinless life is Jesus Christ.

u know not every single person in this world is perfect. Christians do mess up too sometimes. I am a Christian and we all fall and mess up, but you have to learn how to deal with your mistakes. some people just have a weak soul and say forget it i failed too many times whats the point. Jesus will ALWAYS forgive you no matter how many times you mess up

It means that you are human, and you got mad. This from a Pentecostal. We all get angry. Sometimes we say things when we are angry that we wish we didn't say. Ask the Lord to forgive you and help you do better next time, and accept His forgiveness. Move on with life. It is when your spirit does not war with your flesh at these times that you could be in trouble.

It means that we have fallen and need to get back up again. Peter*one of Jesus' disciples* denied he knew Him! He was forgiven. The Bible says God will forgive you no matter what you do. This is why God says "Keep your eyes on me" When you do that you are less likely to fall.
