Anyone know if you can put a gearbox out of any other car into a toyota avensis 2005 model 2.0 D4D, and before you ask the toyota gearbox is pure crap. Thanks everyone

Your best bet is to go back a model year or two. The tranny's rarely change from model year to year. Also, you might have some luck with Isuzu tranny's.
The numbers should be stamped into the metal on the side of the tranny usually on the passenger side. Or on a metal plate riveted to the tranny housing.

A dealer may be able to tell you what other models have the same gear box. They would be the best source.
