I have depression and i think maybe mild bipolar. Ive tried to talk to my parents and my brother, but they all said that i wasnt, that i was exagerating and that if i just was more active and didnt stay in my room all the time then id feel better. ive also tried talking to my friends about it, but they dont seem to understand. i dont know any other adults that id feel comfortable talking to. i also dont like the idea of talking to someone about it over the phone. the only thing i can do is go on-line. like this. but answers @yahoo is just for that; answers. its not a support system, not a discussion. so where can i go online to talk to people about this? do they even have forums for depression and suicide? anything would help.

An excellent resource is depression.com. There are forums and things for depression all over the place, but it's best to find one that is associated with mental health.

Going off meds is not a good idea without a doctor's supervision. It can be physically dangerous in some cases. I managed to go off my own, but it took many weeks and strict instruction.

It's sad when people don't understand. But that's the fact, people simply do not understand depression, they prefer to have their own ignorant views. My ex did nothing to learn about what I was going through and did nothing to help. Although doing things and being with people can help, it's hard to make yourself do it. Also difficult, but possible with self-motivation, is exercise. Even brisk walks can help because exercise is like a medication in itself.

Some other resources:
psychcentral.com
www.ncpamd.com/Depression_Adults_Children.htm

Hope this helps. I've been there.

There is a website called Kasamba www.kasamba.com that has actual mental health professionals who will do on-line or telephone therapy. there are a lot of "quacks" there too, so make sure you look for someone with a license to help you. It's not free, but you can tell the "experts" how much you are willing to pay for their help.

Hi I Need Help,

Having depression is scarey and there are different types or levels. I've experienced this for about 18 yrs.

My greatest help and comfort is GOD! Do you know Him?

I would love to talk with you. I'm no pro or adviser. Just plain me. I will be praying for you! K
