Assuming that your settings are correct then,
1) if it's an expensive camera take it to a repair shop or send it to an authorized repair center - if it's still under warranty read the warranty repair instructions or
2) if it's an inexpensive camera buy a new one.

Charge the battery for a bit and try again, the screen could be dim because of the battery.
Repost the camera model and other info if nothing works.

When u switch it on, or when u press menu, does the menu screen show up? If not, I suspect ur batteries are dead. Hope this helps.
