I am eating wheat bread and trying to lose weight. i like to have 1 or 2 slices of wheat bread toasted without anything on it because it has carbs and the carbs will give me energy. but i also like to eat 2 more slices of wheat bread thruoghout the day toasted without anything on it, because i love bread. its whole grain, or whole wheat. whatever, it says whole on it. is it bad and hurting my diet that im eating about 4 slices of wheat bread a day?

uhm, well the first ingredient of the bread says whole wheat flour, then the second ingredient is enriched whole wheat flour. is that bad? is there even such a thing as bread thats absolutely ONLY whole wheat flour without any enriched whole wheat flour?

Its not good to have too much of anything, even if its healthy. 4 slices of wheat bread a day isnt BAD, but I suggest eating 2 or 3 pieces. If you have 4 pieces of wheat bread a day you should have some protien with it. Maybe cheese baked on the bread, or a glass of milk? Hope that answered your question. :)

That amount of bread doesn't sound bad at all. Like another poster stated, you may want to eat a bit of protein with it. Maybe a scrambled egg in the morning with the toast and some cheese with the toast in the afternoon?
If you're looking for a bread that hasn't been enriched...there is a type called 'Ezekial'. It can be found in health food stores as well as organic sections of local grocery stores. This bread isn't even made from any type of flour...the grains are seeded and sprouted, not broken down in anyway from it's natural form. Because you already like the taste of whole wheat bread, you may like this...you may have to put something on it though...maybe a bit of Promise spread if you want to keep your calories down. This may also fill you up more than the bread you enjoy at this time.
Best wishes!

My husband and I generally get the Meijer grocery store brand of whole wheat bread. No enriched flour and no corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup or partially or fully hydrogenated oils. It's sweented with raisin juice and cane sugar.
Last week, the Meijer bread was not in stock (excpet for the rye, which neither of us like), so we got a brand by the name of Arnold. It's good, but the slices are small. (I like the Meijer brand because the slices are wide and for some things, like veggie burgers, I only need one slice.)
No, it's not too bad, since whole wheat is the first ingredient. However, make sure it doesn't have any of the other stuff in it that I mentioned, that's what makes it not good.

No. Eating bread has gotten a bad rap with the latest fad diets, but according to the FDA approved food pyramid, we really do need it. It satisfies hunger and provides an excellent source of fiber. I try to eat six servings a day and am losing weight at about 1 pound per week.

As you say, you need carbohydrates for energy.
But you are also having a good source of fibre and
B vitamins.
I believe the average slice of whole meal bread is around 100 calories, which is far less than a packet of crisps and far more filling.
It certainly sounds as tho' you are doing the right things in your diet..and you enjoy it too.
