Anyone who went to the concert for the Message was already convinced. Those who went for the Music probably didn't even hear the Message. If the attendance and TV ratings are any indication, it probably didn't have much of an impact.

Well you are right that the concert may be burning fossil fuel.... but there is just a little chance that it comes from a clean source ~ perhaps you could use the Internet to search out and send a message to those involved. The more I read your poem the better I like it, BTW so you can post it again anytime you like in my opinion. The thing about the concert is that it does help to raise awareness and that can create some very positive outcomes because knowledge is power. Just "imagine" ~ if those in power learn that global warming is not the myth they think it is, or I would even accept that they thought it is a natural cyclical phenomenon but the earth would be a better place without carbon gas emissions ..... but that is a dream.. here is the reality of a cynic like me .... I think that those powers to be are persuaded by reason that they had better start singing from the same prayer book as their constituents or they will get thrown out of the choir. A concert is appropriate for that analogy don't you agree? I support it (and I love rock music).

In the '60's and '70's environmental awareness skyrocketed. But the enthusiasm subsided. Human-related climate change has galvanized support towards helping the earth, and has helped persuade many of the naysayers that this theory has merit.

Yes, many people that went to the concert wanted to hear the music. But a lot watched on TV, and there was a lot of good information interwoven between acts at each venue and on TV.

People are pretty smart about self-preservation. If the car in front of you brakes hard, your adrenaline kicks in and you react. Hopefully the adrenaline will kick in globally regarding global warming, and we'll begin to make some real progress in addressing this issue.

song artist can make people be aware about this, like for instance, in my country, the philippines, way back in 1977, i think,a song was popularized by a band "asin" (pilipino for salt) titled "masdan mo ang kapaligiran" (observe the surroundings) about man's negligence on polluting this earth, and then theres this "karaniwang tao" (ordinary people) about what ordinary people can do for protecting this environment. Problem with this songs are, they just seem to criticize what's happening, they leaved the people to act on their own, didn't say anything what should be done.
there are other songs by environmentalist, but were not popularized.
Impact on the people? I don't know if it's cultural, political, human nature, or whatever, nothing much happened. Nature's continued to be neglected by most.
Like most nations with stiff laws against violators of nature, many still outsmart the authorities. They say in Tanzania, when caring for nature was incorporated with the religous teachings in their daily life, it somehow have impacts.

most likely, the majority of the people that went only wanted to see the bands. but i think the rest of the people were aware of the whole cause. hopefully everyone that went to live earth (and the rest of the world) knows whats going on with global warming, etc.

I think most people just wanted to go to the concert. Saving the Earth is now up to the new generation. I feel that most adults today are to set in their ways to make any enviro-friendly changes. It's sad really. If everyone just did a little something, it would help. But some are just too stubborn to change.

To some degree. Many people will explore environmental issues because their favorite celebrities are involved. Some of these people will develop a genuine interest and committment.

I think it helped a lot. It was really hot here yesterday and today it is much cooler, so I think the live earth concert is working great. And it snowed in Beunos Aires. Rock on Al Gore and the Kennedy twit.

Humans are the number one cause of killing this poor earth. One night, our Mother Earth spoke to me and told me that all humans must commit suicide, for only then will the planet truly heal without us sickening humans. Only then will animal rights also be truly realized, for humans will stop KILLING them! So, like Jesus and Al Gore before me, I will devote my life to this.

LISTEN TO MOTHER EARTH!
ANIMAL RIGHTS!
