Our smile makes first impressions, and who does not want to have straight white teeth. I am 31 with braces, and when I was working at the orthodontist office I use to see lots of older people come in all the time for braces. You are not alone, and it means that you plan on having your teeth for a long time which is good! Congratulations of a wonderful smile!

The question should not be if I think you are vein? It should be do you think you are?
What are your reasons for getting them?
Braces can't hurt if there is any sort of problem.
I do see a lot of people over 30 who should have them and wonder why they don't. I know when we (I'm around the same age) were young, not everyone had the money to get braces like the kids do today. This is why more adults are getting them now.
Personally, I don't think it should bother you what anyone thinks. You are the one who has to see you everyday for the rest of your life. If you think you need improving--go for it.

No way. You're never too old to have a beautiful smile! It's not even a question of vanity. If a man gets hair plugs at 50, is he vain? It just means you care about your outward appearance and a great set of teeth really boosts self esteem. Good for you.

Nope. My mother had me seen by a couple of dentists and even an orthodontists as a child. They all said that the gap between my front teeth would disappear as my new teeth came in and pushed them together. They said there was no reason to even think about braces unless I wanted them (duh, what pre-teen wants braces?). Now, as an adult, the gap is still there, and has only grown. I've been thinking about getting braces for a while, but my insurance doesn't cover them for people over 19 years of age. maybe someday...
Also, my husband's neuro surgeon has braces, and they look good on him.

Not all all...I wish everyone took care of their appearance.
I too am 46 and have just had veneers to my teeth and a whole host of plastic surgery with no regrets.
If you can afford it, why not!!!

Yes. I think you are being vain, but so what? If you are happier with the braces and straighter teeth (eventually), then it will be worth it.
