Tickets are not dismissed because the Officer isn't in court. A Police Officer is only required to appear if his testimony is needed. Sounds like the Judge wants to hear both sides of the story.

ANYONE that tells you ANY court will decide ANY case in a particular manner is either lying or misinformed. The advice MAY be accurate 99% of the time, but the other 1% is always possible. Welcome the the 'legal' system.

Putting a question mark at the end of your STATEMENT, doesn't make it a question.

That is one of the biggest myths. Many courts do grant continuances if the officer doesn't show up. Especially if their is good case, such as him being needed at another court. Or his duties somehow conflicting.

Did you get a new trial date? Or was it just the preliminary? Were you just required to plead guilty or not guilty and then return for a trial?
