Your full Irish driving licence is valid, but if you are going to live in Australia after 3 to 6 months you have to go into Vic roads(If your in Victoria)or the roads traffic authority )if your in N.S.W),take your passport, show them your visa,Irish driving licence, birth certificate, and some thing that has your new address on it(a bill),and you will be issued an Australian drivers licence in the mail after about 2 to 3 weeks.
It depends on what type of visa you get whether or not you will be entitled to a medicare card straight away or not.If you do get a medicare card,it's not like a medical card, where you get a reduced price on prescriptions,or reduced dentist bills, but your doctor fees are most of the time free,or you may have to pay a small fee.You will have to pay full price for your prescriptions and pay full price for your dentists unless you are entitled to a health care card(which you only get if you an Australian resident and you are either a very low income earner, unemployed or on a disability pension.Australia doesn't have a stamp scheme where you can use your stamps to reduce your dentist bill,so it would be a good idea to get a medical insurance that covers dentists so that your dentist bills aren't to expensive.I can't help you really with any good internet sites to do with travelling around Australia,or moving to Australia, although I do recommend that if you do want to move here, before you take that plunge, come to Australia for a holiday first as Australia is very different to Ireland in many ways.I hope I was of some help though.Email me if you need any more help.Take care.

International Driving Licences are only really necessary if your home licence is written in a language other than English. If you are here for a holiday, your Irish licence will be fine. If you are going to be here for more than three months you will need an Australian driving licence for the State you are living in. This is valid in the other States. Contact the Roads and Traffic Authority in NSW or the equivalent in the other States to find out what you need to get a licence.

Apply at the Irish automobile association for an International Drivers License. This will enable you to drive in Australia, as a visitor, on your Irish license for a period of three months.
If you wish to live here or want an extended saty, you will need to apply for an Australian license in the state where you will live

some all of us is are in simple terms shallow. It's the loud minority that all of us hear the main. There's in simple terms no thank you to close them up. Anywho, my opinion: i think of human beings are very useful and could take that first step as quickly as we want it. regrettably lots are ignorant, yet that's an identical with each usa. The british are very accepting and extremely type! some could be cocky, yet so can all of us from everywhere The Irish scare me, although they look very exciting and outgoing! Cultures are diff. and the Irish look a yet greater blunt and loud. quite the alternative in Canada The Australians, properly they are very useful besides! Australia is a yet of a lonely usa floating over there via themselves, and could be a secret, yet they have an mind-blowing experience of humour and great accents! those I somewhat have met are very type. :]
