HELLO,
THIS IS FOR BRACES RIGHT?
THE SWELLING SHOULD BE KEPT TO A MINIMUM USING COLD PACKS (ICE + WATER) THE FIRST 24 HOURS. ALSO, TAKING ADVIL WILL HELP FOR THE INFLAMMATION.
FOR THE BLEEDING, HAVING THE DENTAL GAUZE OVER THE SOCKET FOR A FULL 30 MINUTES W/O REMOVAL WILL STOP ANY BLEEDING.
OOZING AFTER AN EXTRACTION IS NORMAL AND MUST NOT BE CONFUSED OR BLEEDING.
PLACING A COLD, WET TEABAG WILL ALSO HELP THE OOZING.
DON'T WORRY YOU WILL BE FINE.

Yes, ice does work. However, with all the bleeding you'll be able to taste the unpleasant blood. To overpower this unpleasant taste, I suggest eating a few ice pops. That's what I always do and it works great. The tea bag might work, but as you know, tea stains your teeth, and I'm pretty sure that you'd have to leave the tea bag in the area for quite a while before the bleeding stops because it's hard to stop the bleeding after extractions. My teeth were always hard to pull out because I take a lot of calcium and my teeth are really strong (I haven't had a cavity since I was 4). I've only lost 6 teeth on my own, so I've had quite a lot of experience with extractions. Trust me, eating ice pops works. Hope this helps and good luck with the extractions =).

ice packs help the swelling. When I had my extraction, the nurse told me that wetting a tea bag and holding it over the raw area would help to stop the bleeding. It worked for me, but you may want to ask to make sure that idea is safe.
