I have no idea why prozac causes changes in libido and sexual function, but there is at least one thing that can be done to counter this effect. You can ask your doctor to prescribe 150 mg Wellbutrin XL along with prozac, or perhaps instead of prozac. The side effects of prozac and wellbutrin tend to cancel out each other. Some people stop taking Wellbutrin because it causes too much of an increase in libido or too much energy.

Fluoxetine may cause the following side effect apart from others.( Nausea; Headaches; Diarrhoea;and Insomnia;)
* changes in sex drive or ability i.e., Sexual difficulties, such as delayed orgasm. Possible sexual side effects can include anorgasmia, reduced libido and reduced erectile function.
[Anorgasmia (often related to delayed ejaculation in males) is a form of sexual dysfunction sometimes classified as a psychiatric disorder in which the patient cannot achieve orgasm, even with "adequate" stimulation. However, it can also be caused by medical problems such as diabetic neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, pelvic trauma, hormonal imbalances, total hysterectomy, spinal cord injury and cardiovascular disease. Anorgasmia is far more common in females than in males and is especially rare in younger men.]

One of the common medications used is called Prozac for which the generic name is fluoxetine. This drug is commonly prescribed as anti depressant to many patients. One of the side effects of this drug is in some patients it can increase the severity of depression even more and in certain cases patients have suicidal tendencies. In other patients they experience eating disorder and some of the http://www.8005324808.com m even lose their appetite.
You may be aware that eating properly is one of the ways to keep ourselves upbeat and in good mood so if you do not eat healthy you will have more chances of being pulled into further depression.
Another very dangerous side effect of these drugs is these can destroy your sexual health and make you dull. In fact one of the worst side effects is erectile dysfunction and total lack of interest in sex. Many ladies suffer from problems in menstrual disorders.
Many of the patients develop insomnia and their sleep pattern is disturbed. They remain tired more and more and become cranky.
Similarly many other antidepressants have similarly dangerous side effects.

It may be because it stops serotonin being reabsorbed so more stimulation of the serotonin receptors is happening. It also will increase the amount of dopamine being released. Both of these are released during sex and are part of the pleasure/reward of the experience. Maybe the body needs less sex because the chemicals it craves are already there
