It is their choice, they have to live their own life. The best you can do is figure out for yourself why you don't like them and if there is a real reason, such as abuse of any kind or cheating, tell your child. Otherwise, hope there is more to the person you don't know yet, or hope they inherited your good sense of taste in partners. Telling your child you don't like their choice may make them more defensive of the person and less likely to see the other person's faults and make a good decisions to move on.

Unfortunately, we are not the people who choose our children's partners, and unfortunately if you try to interfere, conflict between child and parent can and probably will occur. We, as parents have to accept that there are going to be many things in our children's life that we are not going to agree with. Unconditional love and support is what parents are there to provide and hopefully lifes lessons do not destroy the character of the person we love. Your child will always be exactly that. So be thankful for the small mercies that surround us and be grateful for good health and the ability to love. To know love is a true joy and a journey we must all travel.

As a dad you're no doubt well aware that the best way to make this partner irresistible to your child is for you to "dislike" them. So, I guess playing it as coolly as possible is a good strategy. Just make sure your child knows that they can always count on you for support: that they can talk to you about anything, and that you love them very much no matter what. Then comes the hard part: sit back and trust...trust the seeds you've planted in your child, and the job you've already done raising them. Good luck....to us both.

First, you respect their choice and be VERY gracious no matter how you feel.

Second, it don't matter if you like them or not - you aren't the one sleeping with them so stay out of their business.

Third, you want to see your child walk away from you then say something bad about their choice.

You are the parent, your job is to set a good example.

You're the parent, not the best friend. Ground them and forbid them to see them. Take away the car keys and the phone, ect. Should work.

Depends on the age, younger than 20 i say you should tell them what you think and really try to change there mind. Older than that, its none of your business.

If they are an adult, there's nothing as a parent that can be done about it.
