Will some Christians ever see the bible for the piece of fiction that it is?

I love to use the stories of Noah and Job to illustrate how ridiculous and absurd the bible is.

Would a deity really murder a man's family to test his love? Come on!!!! Use some common sense people.

So am I correct in assuming that only God, Himself, standing in front of you, and stating the obvious that most humans know, for you to accept the bible is creative fiction.

Some metaphors and parables with not much else useful.

Tex honey, you're becoming fixated upon religion, or rather the denial of it. Could it be that you are searching for a meaningful reason to return to that fold?
Please tell me that you're not, I'd miss your candid comments.

I know that it's difficult to see how anyone can be zealous of God and the Bible. I was there after all. But here is the thing that you are probably overlooking:
Jesus promised us God's Spirit to teach us, comfort us, and lead us through life.

If you don't know what that is like, then you ought to have the difficulty that you are expressing. Because you don't understand a spirit that does anything with anyone. What's a spirit, right? Do you think that there are spirits? Most non believers won't even admit to believing in a spirit like they believed in during times past.

So that's what you are missing. The stories in the Bible are disconnected and distant to you because you do not have God leading you to understanding them.

i am an atheist, and cannot bring myself to believe the bible is anything other than fiction. BUT.......i also think that true christians do believe it, so to them it is very important. and they get alot out of their religious beliefs. it would be wrong to belittle them just because we think it's silly. to them, it's anything BUT.
the entire subject is a debate because neither side can "prove" their way of thinking is the correct answer.

I'm told that the name for this bizarre condition is 'invincible ignorance'. Those afflicted in this way would instantly assume that the being telling them the bible was false - was in fact Satan.

There may be no cure.

Sorry, gorgeous, there's not much sense in trying to reason with the deeply deluded.

(I think Squirrel - one of the original Squirrels - may have been the first to point that out to me, many moons ago.)

o faith boy faith,
it goes against reason, else it'd be reasonable
seeks to consume your little life and digest your very soul
faith boy, o faith

I don't know. They are ok with a religion that will send Hitler to heaven and Ghandi to hell. Oh and thier God needed a blood sacrifice to love and forgive them. But I suppose if they find peace in that then so be it.

Unless they can accept facts other than the ones they were brainwashed with, or unless they were never truly a christian, no.
