then why do they insist that truth is limited to human comprehension and logic?

okay let me basically say what you want to imply.

you want scientists to consider the supernatural when trying to come to conclusions about the truth. that religion should be considered when examining how mankind came to be.

theres one problem with this. we dont need to. religion is a manmade thing.

this is basically like asking scientists to consider Zeus when looking into the origins of the universe. should we consider the Zeus and all other mythological gods? no.

science works and deals with the physical, it deals with reality. were not going to take your religion into consideration...especially since the only real reason you want us to take it into consideration is because your looking for some way to validate your beliefs.

in theend your beleifs are NOT going to be taken into consideration SIMPLY because they make you feel better. just because they give you a warm, fuzzy feeling in your tummy doesent mean theres any sort of validity to it.

you speak of truth...well...there is no truth in your religion...at least when it comes to the claims it makes.

if you want science to look for truth within your religion....well...dont get all pissy when science tears your religion from bitsand leaves little behind (and finds no evidence to support its claims)

i stronly reccomend you try to avoid science looking into your religion....youre definitely not going to like the outcome.

the only way atheists can know reality is by way of evidence. on condition that there is not any evidence to assist the existence of any gods, then there is not any reason to have self assurance in any. How is this difficult to understand? the only distinction between an atheists and a believer is their approach of determining reality. The non secular have self assurance that faith is a good thank you to divine reality, and atheists do no longer, they desire evidence. via ways, If there have been an all-powerful, omnicient god someplace, no longer purely could he know what evidence could be adequate to sway each non-believer on earth, on somebody foundation, yet he could have the capacity to in the present day grant it to them. There are purely 2 achieveable clarification why this hasn't befell yet, the two he's positive with us no longer believing, or he's no longer authentic. because of the fact the least puzzling clarification has a tendency to be the main stunning one, the logical end is that he's not any longer authentic. If evidence to the alternative ever will become attainable, i'm going to be the 1st one to transform.

Because facts are consistently true in a way that fairytales can never be.

If you tell me there is an invisible pink dragon in your garage, it is not reasonable for me to believe you without facts, evidence, or some appeal to observable/empirical reality. You can say your pink dragon exists outside of comprehension and logic, but that doesn't make it true, nor does it save the idea.

Also logic is mathematically perfect. A simple deductive syllogism is as flawless and unrefutable as 1+1=2. Saying something exists outside of that is a cop-out and denial. If God exists outside of human comprehension or logic, there wouldn't be ONE of them, nor would there be a trinity - it would instead be something incomprehensible. That there is one (and that it exists within space and time according to the bible) means it has a mathematical existence and logic should apply.

We are concerned with truth, not fantasies you want to believe.

So you're saying that the truth is illogical?

That's a good place to start, isn't it?

If something is illogical, there's usually a contradiction somewhere. Does this mean we're to assume that both X and ~X can be true at the same time, and we're supposed to start our search for truth from there?

Formal systems like logic tend to be much more powerful than the picture you appear to have of the human abillity to reason.

Still, we don't even need to use pure logic to reject Christianity (in particular). We can use inductive reasoning, whereby we look at the Christian god, note her context and her development, and then look at all the other gods. Once we see there aren't any real differences between them, and once we see where the idea for the Christian god came from, we can safely reject Christianity.

And there's the rub with the Christian god. She is *not* above human comprehension. She simply fails to be coherent. She is, however, *exactly* the sort of god we expect humans to conceive of. She is easy to comprehend.

Define truth.

If truth means agreement with fact or reality, then it IS limited to human comprehension and logic. It's based on our world touched only by the five senses.

Take a look at just how many different types/versions of truth there are...

Long time in coming.
Darwin's theory has been disproved.
YOU will not learn this in public schools.
Scientific studies have come to the conclusion that there is an intelligent designer.
Due to the wonders of DNA.. I might add.
DNA is information within a cell and scientist are intelligent enough to know that someone had to put the information there to begin with.....
It would be like me believing my laptop was formed out of nothing suddenly...
No, common sense tells us there was a designer. Information was stored into my hard-drive, programs were created to tell my computer what to do.
Christianity has not been proven to be false, as a matter of fact for many years archaeologist have turned heavily to the Bible to find many historical sites and cities.
Time and time again, The Bible hold up and this is not based in faith. The Bible has been used many times.
Nasa even had trouble with a complex math problem and worked for months trying to figure out why the math for the new satilite system and getting it into space was not working.

The fact is atheist's are atheist's because they don't want someone telling them how they should or should not live.
It is not based on studies or facts, it is based of their particular morals or lack of them.

If atheists are really interested in the truth they would believe in Jesus Christ. He is the Way, the Truth, the Life. They are only interested in lies. Atheists know nothing because God has blinded them. Why would God give of the tree of life to an atheist when He denied Adam and Eve.

Atheists can say what they want all that they want. They are still wrong. I hope that some will wake up and truly ask Jesus if He is really real.

I am a loving Christian. I help those that need and want help. I can not help those that don't want help. God will not help those that refuse to believe in Him. Atheists love sin and they will have the penalty of sin. The wages of sin is death.

I hope I provoke some people to thought. I would lie to people if I didn't love them. I tell the truth though because I love them.

I am telling the truth.

FFS. So you are basically saying that logical people should believe stuff that was made up 4000 years ago by some bored shepherds who were trying to spin a yarn about God.

Seriously, get a grip and see the light, the light I am holding in my very real hand, made of metal and other tangibles.

You spanner.

So you're suggesting that outside the realm of human understanding and logic, there is a magical truth where delusional fantasies come to life? Where magical Beings who live in the sky create planets with spoken words? And after death, people live forever in a magical place there everyone is eternally happy?

What a stretch of the imagination.....

Because they are looking to start a fight!!! You do too, the way you used the word "insist" ;D
Plus, your definition for atheist is actually what dictionary.com has for AGNOSTIC!

TRUTH GETS LIMITED WHEN PEOPLE CALL THEMSELVES "ISTS" AND SUBSCRIBE TO AN "ISM " (except Taoism, by it's very definition :-)

So-called atheists are angry, bitter and very cynical. They have burned ANY spiritual bridges (never mind religious ones), for what appears to be spite!

The answer to this is in the question. Atheism tends to anchor itself in logic and proven fact which is fine as long as they don't have the intestinal fortitude to go one step beyond. Fear keeps them locked in only what can be proven. When their facts are wrong they freak. No biggee. Time may heal them with a little help from God. The first time they experience something they can't explain they start to question and that is the beginning.
