When i start my 91 volvo 740 the service light is on then when im driving about 5 mins. later it will turn off but in that 5 mins. the car would stall for about a second then turn back on by itself. what could be wrong? where should i go to get the light checked, i went to autozone but the car is to old.

the service lamp is a oil change reminder and can be reset by removing small plug in cluster face and pushing the button with a pocket screwdriver or similer tool.
the stalling problem could be as simple as a failing crank sensor or a carbon ring in the throttle body, however this car is equipped with a built in diagnostic system. on drivers side near firewall is a socket w/ pigtail and light emmitting diode [ with key on engine off] plug pig tail into socket#2 [fuel system] and push button for 2 seconds the led will blink a 3 digit code. 1 1 1 is the pass code record code and press again [do this until first code repeats] then place pigtail into socket#6 and do the same thing[this is for the ignition system ] the codes can be decyphered with a bently or haynes manual good luck

The service light is a reminder to have your car brought in for maintenance work. There is a button on the dash that you push to clear the light. The button is on the instrument cluster and looks like the button to clear the trip odometer, but it is inset, so you need a small object to clear it (a pen works fine).
The service light is a reminder light that turns on at set mileage intervals. It is not triggered by the car stalling. You need to get the car checked by a mechanic, so while your car is in for the routine maintenance, ask them to check the stalling problem. It could be a number of things, from spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump (s), fuel filter, air filter, intake manifold gasket, broken vaccuum line, bad sensor, etc.

You need to check your spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor. Plus get an oil change. Also the fuel and air filter need to be changed. If the light stays on I would suggest taking it to a Volvo dealer to get it scanned. Do not turn the service light off until you have it scanned

The service light tells you that your vehicle is due for retine mantenance, the stalling is a completely different issue, I'd clean carbon buildup from the throttle body first to correctt the stalling.

Well tht jus mean tht its time to take serious action because the engine need a retune basiclly jus oil change and new sparkplugs and maybe a new radiator.

it just might be that the car is due for a major tune up. change everything from filters to oil and sparkplugs and see how she handles after that \
