Wow, I wish that were true! I'd be a millionaire!
Cops are paid by the hour like everyone else. Quotas do not exist, I can write one or a hundred tickets a month, I get paid the same. It would be extremely unethical if we were paid per ticket. I would NEVER issue a warning, I'd write tickets all day to fill my pockets. The majority of ticket revenue goes to the court of record. Only a small percentage goes to the agency. Why write tickets then you ask? Because people need to be held accountable for their actions. Not always, but sometimes it needs to be done.

No, you cannot get arrested for not paying a speeding ticket. You get arrested for the warrant issued by the judge for your arrest for not appearing in court. Not paying the ticket is not the reason. FTA Failure to appear is the reason. You signed the ticket which means that you promised to appear. You deal with the courts now. If you go to the cops now, they will arrest you. You won't just be able to pay the ticket. You lost your chance for that. The fine probably doubled now and you have to face the FTA. This is not like dealing with teachers. This is the real thing.

No, but if they did my hubby would be a lot richer, and don't cha think that if they did then there would be an officer at every corner and turn just waiting to write one?
So your friend is way wrong and you can prove it here!
So like the rest have said no quotas no contest on seeing who can write the most, nada...

They don't! Think about it-- wouldn't cops give EVERYONE a ticket for anything, if they were getting paid per ticket issued? Not only that, but my husband is a police officer, and I PROMISE you, if he got paid for each ticket he wrote, we would be RICH-- but we're not. So tell your friend he/she is wrong!

No, cops are salaried. However, some cities, counties, and states have quotas for tickets (such as speeding). These numbers are supposed to be moderate in reference to the amount of people actually committing the crimes, but who knows.

I'm paid by the hour no matter how many citations I issue. If police were paid by the citation there would be no such thing as a verbal warning.

I get paid hourly. I hate writing cites and seldom do. No officer is paid per cite.
I have no ticket quota either, contrary to popular belief.
