We´re putting the cart before the horse, because we don´t have children yet, but were discussing this the other day.
We live in Germany, and since I don´t know the language, and am not Catholic, I told my husband we would probably have to take our child back to the States, and have it baptized in the Methodist church.

PS-
We were married in a chapel by a non-denominational minister in Las Vegas.
Not because we couldn´t get married in my Methodist church, but because it was easier to marry someone from outside the States in Vegas.

Yes, you both have to attend baptism classes. And one of the God parents has to be Catholic and the other at least a Christian.

Pastor Billy says: Yes you can have them baptised in fact if you are a practising Methodist and have been baptised as one the Catholic Church accepts your baptism as a valid Christian baptism assuming the right form and matter was used. You would not be rebaptised when considering becoming a Catholic Christian.

addendum: the previous poster is correct in explaining if you were already married in a Catholic marriage ceremony you would have had to agree to raise the children as Catholics anyway and I must ask is this now an issue? if not why the problem with a Catholic baptism?

Sorry yet your husband can not acquire Communion in a Catholic Church because of the fact he's not Catholic. What he needs to understand is that not receiving Communion would not, in any way, shape, or type, recommend he's being ignored of the marriage Mass.

I recall when our friends' daughter was baptized in the Catholic church the parents both stood up there & vowed to raise the daughter to be Catholic.
I don't think you could do this since you aren't going to participate in her religous (Catholic) upbringing-- and probably not a good idea to lie about it either, LOL...
I'd just do it in your Methodist church, baptism is baptism.

You may baptise your child in a Catholic church as long as your members of that church! Good to think about things like that now. But, you don't need to fly to the states to do that, unless you wanted to.

Your children can definitely be baptized!! As long as they are raised Catholic. When a Catholic marries a protestant the protestant is supposed to have to sign a paper saying that their children will be raised Catholic.

I think you can as long as one parent is Catholic and the other signs a waiver giving permission.

What on earth for? Why are you asking such a question? This is like my wife asking me if she should put cow's milk, goat's milk, sheep's milk, camel's milk, bear's milk, or elephant's milk on her corn flakes tomorrow morning.

WHO CARES?

Who?

Yes.

Remember you, your husband, and the godparents will be promising to raise your children as Catholics.

Please take this promise seriously.

With love in Christ.

you're condemning your kids to a life of superstitious servitude and they aren't even born yet? Why not wait until they are 18 and let them decide for themselves
