Yes. When I was an employer, I preferred that my people took a day off when they needed one. Every boss should be that way. We need to have compassion for our fellow human beings. . . . they are not robots. Putting unrealistic expectations on people is not the way to keep employees happy. And unhappy employees make me unhappy to be around them. Employers can bring in a temp and get over it. No slave-driving allowed!

Absolutely.. depends on what kind of job do you have though.
I am a Registered Nurse.. I work 12 hr shifts. I know I have to prepared mentally & physically to withstand a sihft. I might jeopardize my pt's life if I'm at work when I just don't wanna be there. And patients can tell when you don' wanna be there. And actually even some supervisors advise my to call in sick if I don't feel like working. They know it's hard to be a nurse.
If you have a relatively easy job than u might wanna save your sick day in case of real emergency.

Of course.....
You have mental and physical illnesses. You would be surprised at how many people suffer from depression. I believe if anything in your life that causes you to feel what you would consider abnormal for you, then take off. You have earned your sick time so use them as you wish. Hell I wake up tired and some days I take off. I see it this way; every-time you turn around the executives are on vacation, so why can't I.

Of course! Everyone needs time away from stuff they don't like when they're feeling bad. I do that all the time when I feel bad. Don't make yourself feel even worse by not dealing with the problem, having it build up inside of you, or not trying to relieve the stress. I totally think it's totally and completely okay to take a day off if you're feeling bad.

Frankly, I don't. Taking a day away from you obligations doesn't make you feel any better, and if it becomes a habit, you end up withdrawing from life. Then the spiral begins, you loose your job because of poor attendance, you can't find another because of being fired for that, you feel worse and worse and can't even muster energy to look for work.
While, going into work anyway gives you something to do to keep your mind off of why you are sad, or depressed or having a bad day. You gain a sense of accomplishment from doing a good job, and you gaina sense of responsibility for yourself and your actions.
Running and hiding has never solved anything.

Of course. For one thing, mental stress can lead to physical illness, so it's better to take a little break before you feel any worse.

I've done it several times. Some people have said it doesn't help which may be true but it allows me to catch my breath and start again. Sooner or later you'll need to seek help. I'm getting to that point again.

sure, as long as you don't takek too many. But then again remember you are being paid so ideally you'd actually get out of bed and go to work

Take a break once and while. You don't want to go to work if you can't do your best.
