I DO NOT beilive that. If we were monkeys, we would ACT like ones. We would throw shiit at each other. It's ridiculous. Where's our tail?

no, I don't believe in that.

I believe that our genetic ancestors derived from a species that at some point also left monkeys as descendants. Humans are apes, not monkeys, so it would have had to have been far enough back that the distinction had not yet arisen.

As to your "evidence," we humans actually do a great job of "throwing shite at each other," just look at these message boards, not to mention wars, hate radio, etc. Monkeys are actually quite a bit more civil in limiting it to actual faecal matter and rotten food.

As for the tail ,it's still there, right at the base of your spine. A vestigial bone called a coccyx that serves absolutely no function in our current body plan. It would not be there if it were not the remnant of some prior body plan.

When you grow up maybe you will learn to express yourself properly in words. BELIEVE is not spelled "beilive." There is no such thing as "ones." The word "sh*t" does not have a double "i" in it.

And when you outgrow childish delusions you may start reading what scientists actually say. I do not know even one scientist who has ever claimed that human beings are monkeys. That absurdity is fit only for ignorant hayseeds sitting in the pews of fundamentalist churches convincing themselves that their preacher is oh so wise and knowledgeable oh yes praise de lawd Ahmen he is such a Man of Gawd and of course Heaven is really REAL like those WMDs in Iraq so evolution must be FALSE and the work of the DEVIL *shudder*.

And oh yes, I almost forgot. Sorry kiddo but you DO have a tail, in vestigial form. It is called the *os coccyx*. If you are not too fat you can actually feel it at the base of your spine. But of course you didn't EVOLVE, oh no no no, Gawd must have put the *os coccyx* in you just in order to tempt you to believe facts instead of living in ignorant faith so don't even THINK about REALITY, just believe and trust and obey.

It's called evolution. Meaning that organisms CHANGE over time. Please, try to find out the first thing about an accepted scientific theory before you form an opinion.

And it doesn't matter whether or not you 'beilive' it, it's true (ish). Humans were descended from ape-like animals.

Out of interest, can you tell me which of these two bodies orbits the other?

a) The Sun
b) The Earth

Just because we do not act like monkeys does not mean that we are/were not monkeys...we have adapted over time...same with the tail.....as time went on new things were discovered and better ways to do things so we have changed

We are apes. Since you don't know the difference between apes and monkeys, take a look. Apes don't have tails.

Throwing sh!t at each other would be a whole lot better than throwing explosives at each other, wouldn't it? The apes have got one up on us there.

Also, go to a zoo. Neither apes nor monkeys do that.

Ignoramus.

Ummm.., you've never actually read the theory of natural selection have you? I mean, it kind of shows. Monkeys are just a part of evolution. As for acting like it, well, picture what a bunch of monkeys would act like if they had firearms and bombs. Starting to look familiar now?

Monkeys? No.

Decended from apes? Yes.

All you have to do is look at the bone structures, genetic make-up and behaviour of apes and humans and the evidence is all there. Like most apes, we're omnivores. Like most apes we have a very close-knit family structure.

I think the problem really stems from the fact that for hundreds of years, humans laughed at the antics of apes and considered them foolish. If we had been related to a more 'noble' species - such as the cat family - we might not have been so upset about it.

The Biblical creation story came about from a lack of knowledge at the time it was written. Humans had such limited knowledge about their world that the rational explanation for unanswerable questions was to ascribe them to the works of gods or spirits. With no knowledge to inform you otherwise, it would appear that the Earth is flat and that both the Sun and the moon circle the Earth. In fact, it's quite understandable that early man would have thought that it was a different sun and moon that climbed above the horizon each day. These people weren't stupid by any means - they just did not have any way of finding out the truth about their world at that time.

Are we any different these days? Yes and no. Despite the facts presented, some people choose to believe that our species was genetically altered by aliens at various stages of our evolution. Some even prefer to think we were one of God's great labours he undertook over a pretty busy 6-day working week. The facts as we know them point to more natural things. Certainly, a big meteor crashing into the Earth during the time of the dinosaurs changed things forever and the once mighty reptilian rulers of out world were wiped out (well, with a few exceptions) and mammals were able to thrive. If that had never happened, it could well be that an upright descendant of the dinosaurs might now be sitting in my place at my computer (complete with opposable thumbs) arguing against the theory that Grudakla, the ancient goddess of the dinosaurs laid a cluster of eggs. From one came the Earth, from another the Sun and from another the Moon. Then from one their came the plants and from another the animals of the planet. From another came all the waters of the rivers, lakes, seas and oceans. And finally, from the last egg came creatures in Her image to be her chosen people. Sounds silly doesn't it?

And then there is the fact that we now know that the planets in our solar system are not the only ones in the universe. Nature has a habit of repeating it's patterns over and over again, so there will be other stars like ours that have planets that are just the right distance from their suns to support life. What form it takes, or how highly developed that life is is something our generations will most likely never know, but distant generations will find out because it is human nature to want to know the answers to things.

And that brings us right back to the creation myth. Man looked at his world and saw that he was the most powerful thing in it. He was truly blessed to have ths world, but some things frightened him and he had no explanation as to what these things were. So it had to be the work of the gods. And from all of that came the idea of one god - The God - the creator of all things. And for early man with his limited knowledge, it was the most logical answer. And for God - Him being able to do all these marvellous things, such as create a new sun every morning - surely the creation of man was an easy task. And the fact that they were the most powerful thing on the face of the Earth, then surely they were his chosen people.

Science doesn't always provide answers we like and to be sure, some people do not like the idea that we are descended from the ape family - in fact they find it downright offensive. Me ... I think apes are wonderful creatures and I'm happy and proud to be descended from them. I think of them as my distant relatives and I get very angry when people hunt them or destroy their habitats.

our relationship to monkeys is more remote than our relationship to apes, so we do not have a tail. We are actually a species of apes, whether it suits you or not. Great apes do not have tails.
Your personal opinion has no bearing whatsoever on that matter, sorry.
The zoo nearby used to have a gorilla who thought he was human, which did not change the fact that he was a gorilla.

you really have no clue as to what evolution is, and you do not care either, you just want an opportunity to ridicule evolution.
have you seen your coccyx? that is all that remains of your tail, but every year there are babies born with actual 1" to 5" tails.
so now that you know there is evidence of human tails, what do you have to say? why do humans have body hair? was that a mistake in god's "intelligent design"?
