Should we count the French carrier as the 4th? Would he go ahead with three? It seems like four is the magic number for invasions, and this terror warning sounds like a good cover. Did I miss a deployment?

Where do you get your numbers? Globalsecurity.org tracks the location of US carriers and shows only two in the area (USS Stennis and USS Nimitz). Both of these carriers are conducting pre-announced exercises. The USS Enterprise departed Norfolk a few days ago en route to the area as part of the scheduled rotation. (When the Enterprise arrives, one of the carriers will depart for the US. Then in three months another carrier will arrive and one will depart, and three months later . . .)

BTW - 'four' is not the magic number for invasion as we deployed 5 carriers to the region prior to the invasion of Iraq.

Hint: carriers are the wrong things to watch if you are trying to predict an attack on Iraq. Instead - you should be tracking minesweepers.

Something that's a whole lot less than "top secret" is the fact than many individual U.S. navy vessels, including submarines, have the power, at the turn of a two keys, to make Hiroshima and Nagasaki look like fourth of July firecrackers. You can bank on them being able to place missiles on any part of Iran at any time, with pin-point accuracy, using the best GPS-based targeting and control devices ever invented. They are there to keep the peace. How many and exactly where they are is nobody's business.

We're not itching for a fight, but we do know how to finish one. Our elected leaders, as well as our professional military leaders, have the good sense to keep this vast destructive power under wraps until there is a real need to deploy it. Pray that we never have to do it.

I have not heard of a another deployment, but my brother is in Iran right now sitting on a destroyer. he said they are doing exercises right now. they are just waiting. I think we will wait a while longer, a little closer to the elections, and Bush will use Iran as a reason to use his executive privileges to let us know god told him we would all be better off if he just stays in office for our safety!
