The ancient Golden Rule is as good a start as any. Compassion, justice, liberty, courage, honor . . . we can tell you the components better than we can define it precisely. It's one of those things that has to come with experience, however much one might analyze in an academic setting.

I was a philosophy major in college, and specialized in ethics. But Morality is another kettle of fish. Many people have a religious or cultural set of rules, and morality then consists of abiding by those rules. Many others, including myself, accept moral responsibility for all the consequences of our choices, both intended and unintended, direct and indirect. It's a tough standard to live up to, but very liberating when you get used to it.

I define it as "conformity to the rules of right or virtuous conduct."

What's right? Well that's a big question. No one sentence or one paragraph or even a book can cover every situation. The answer is that it depends on the situation, and it depends on the culture. Morality is relative. For example, is the death penalty right or wrong? Some people say all killing is wrong, even in self defense (Amish). Some don't (most people).

Cannibalism? Always wrong? Or, what if you are stranded somewhere and someone died and by eating their flesh you could allow your young children to survive...... right to eat the flesh or right to let the children die?

Divorce? Right or wrong? Must a wife stay with husband no matter what, as was traditional in Christian countries.... or, can she divorce him if he beats her? Once divorced, can they remarry? Right or wrong?

We need to submit to God's standard of Moral Law. 11 Commandments is a good start. ( 11 th is the one Jesus gave as the new and the most important commandment to love Lord with all your heart and each other too )

to the most perfect degree, one will give up everything he/she wants to follow what Jesus do.
compare to the most immorality, one will selfishly do anything he/she desires without having second thougts about what it may cause others to suffer from, or would do anyways.
it is pleaseful to chose what is comfortable to one at the moment in between these 2 extreme, and may work the way to become more like Jesus.

though i'm not a pagan or wiccan i like their "first do no harm" credo. then follow that up with Jesus' "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

a good moral combo.

Abstaining from acts that inhibit perpetuation of the species. For example; murder, incest, theft of resources, etc.

doing that which you know to be right...and allowing others the freedom to choose for themselves what is right.

with that said...we must always remember that our rights end, where other's begins. so, obviously, murder is wrong as it affects others....stealing is wrong, etc...
