the reason i am asking is because my children are recycling and it pays 40 cents per pound for aluminum. they want to know how many cans it will take to make a pound....

There are about 32 - 33 cans per pound Some older cans are heavier. Cans from the late 1970s will yield 25 cans/pound.

Strictly speaking its a 12 fluid ounce can.

Without the contents that would be about 14 grams.

Depends on the metallic composition of the can itself.

I just hope no one out there answers "12oz". LOL
