I asked this for a reason and there is a motive behind it. You all are meeting my expectations!

I know I don't like the cults. But I attack them with good reason and yes they started it!

First off, a degree in theology doesn't make someone an expert. Practicing makes you an expert in what YOU practice. I am not about to have my OB/GYN give me brain surgery. Preaching "The Word" only means you have formed an opinion on a specific religion and since you did not specify what TYPE of religious question, I would presume bias. Second, I happen to know that the term "Cult" is used by a specific faith of Christianity which itself teaches about other religions from it's own publications. If I ask a religious question, I want an unbiased opinion from someone in that SPECIFIC religion who is open to other interpretations of that faith.

It's a tough question ,, sometimes people who have degrees loose sight of the fact that there is a world that goes on outside of religion , and for some reason they prosper, and even procreate, these people,, are hard to get to descuss religion, They'll change the subject ,it's like you've just steped on there dreams,, if a degree would include a course on reaching the unreachable I think the degree would be the way to go....

Because you are a minister, I am surprised about your blatant prejudice and discrediting of the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons. With all of your education, did you learn to be respectful anywhere? I studied religion as well, and I have that in addition to other degrees that I earned at an accredited university. However, I studied religion from a historical-criticism perspective, not a blind-faith perspective. (I'm also a minister, but it's through the Universal Life Church, so it really only means that I can preside over marriages.)

Anyway, I would prefer to have my question answered by someone with expertise in the area in question. Also, I'd like that person to speak from true education and without blind bias.

Just because a person is learned, does not mean that he is wise. People can gain lots of Wisdom without a college education.

I would rather someone with a great deal of wisdom answer this question. Sometimes people get arrogant when they get a lot of formal education. Wisdom is learned from life. A formal education does not nessacarilly teach wisdom.

A person who is wise, tends to be more open and understanding to the beliefs of others. Sometimes Learned people, tend to be more puffed up and arrogant, and they seem to not be open to new things, because they already know everything.

I would like someone who has wisdom to answer these questions, because they can be more respectful and open minded.

Since you are so cantankerous, I did some research on what you like to post on. For the most part, you seek out the questions about Jehovah's Witnesses and/or Mormons. You find pleasure in belittling and setting them at a lower level than yourself, when you are not the one to do the judging!(I thought that was what you were supposed to learn in church ...) In your bible, refer to 2 Timothy 2:15 - 17 (Maybe this is what the Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons were trying to tell you...)
So back to your question, I sure as h*** wouldn't ask you!!! If they know more scipture than you do, and follow it better than you do, than I would rather ask them!!!

Christianity is not the only religion there is in this world so I would go to someone who practices or preaches in a respective religion. Same thing with various sects of christianity.. I would not ask an Roman Catholic priest to answer something about Calvinism and vice versa.

You may have your place in your particular sect, but you cannot have enough knowledge to speak for all.

Firstly, while you may have a solid academic background in theology, your opinions are clearly biased. Secondly the people in the other religious organisations you dislike because they are ever so slightly different shades of the same colour as your religious organisation have still been taught their silly stories by the same perpetuators of silly stories you were taught by or at least their peers, they just may not have a piece of paper saying so.

I would prefer to have someone answer my question who knows when to use the word 'were' instead of 'was', when to use the word 'has' instead of 'have', and who knows how to spell 'their'. This goes double if the person pretends to have obtained 'several college degrees'.

P.S. The only difference between YOUR cult and THEIR cults is that YOU believe in YOUR cult.

for variety id ask both but i will say ministers are more tolerant towards other religions and belief systems than jehovas witnesses and they dont wear your doorbell out i havent had mormons knock yet but i dont like the 10 wives thing so impo i would probably listen to a minister more than i would a jw or mormon besides the minister at the local church here knows im pagan and he likes arguing with me over coffee at the local cafe he's cool

It depends on the question, really. If I wanted to learn about the Jehovah's Witnesses or the Mormons, then I'd ask one of them (preferably one who went to college and studied theology, which they do too).

If I wanted to know about your religion, I would ask you.

I'd lean towards the most educated person, all else being equal.
