Ambrosia is a variation on the traditional fruit salad. It contains sour cream, sweetened whipped cream, pineapple, mandarin oranges and coconut. Some versions also contain bananas or strawberries or miniature marshmallows.
I personally like to add walnuts.
There are many different variations.
here is just one of many recipes I found

1 cup sour cream
2 cups lightly sweetened whipped cream (or whipped topping)
1 (20-ounce) can pineapple tidbits, drained
2 (11-ounce) cans mandarin oranges, drained
2 cups sweetened flaked coconut
2 cups miniature marshmallows
2 teaspoons fresh grated orange peel (optional)
In large mixing bowl combine sour cream with the whipped cream. Add remaining ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
Pour into serving dish. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

Also search heavenly hash....and the recipe can be the same you just substitute cool whip with the real whipped cream. My aunt puts chopped pecans in hers and well as pistachio pudding. MMMMMMM goood stuff.
But she doesn't put in bananas and uses coconut.
