This is a common fallacy within the Catholic sect. Remember, they consider that the pope is infallible in matters of Scripture. However, remember also that they have a HUGE amount of doctrines that run counter to the Word of God.

It does not, in any way, cause me to doubt my salvation through Jesus Christ. Benedict is a man, a fallible human being. I follow the one, true, risen Savior, Yeshua.

Jesus cannot be just "a great prophet" without being who He says He is. If He is not the Son of God, then He is a liar and a madman, and nothing that He said holds any relevance or value.

However, if He is who He said He is, then He is far more that just "a great prophet." He is the Salvation & Savior of all who seek and trust Him. He is the ONE way to Heaven and eternal life.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html

Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.

While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:

Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.

Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.

All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

<> truthfully the Catholic Church would not say that. yet Jesus in basic terms wide-unfold one Church, he did not set up tens of 1000's of church homes... The Catholic Church became into the only Christian Church for over 1500 years. in case you have been Christian, you have been Catholic. It has in basic terms been because of the fact the Protestant Reformation that maximum of sects and faith communities have stepped forward...all with their very own twist on God and scripture. The Catholic Church realizes that many generations of persons have been born into Protestant sects and have not have been given any concept that the Catholic Church is the actual Church...and can on no account understand with the aid of no fault of their very own. in maximum situations those people love and persist with Christ as basically right they are conscious of it, and in that they are actual stored Christians. they are one with us in the physique of Christ yet with the aid of no fault of their very own they lack the fullness of actuality. Jesus did not say we mandatory to be a member of the Catholic Church...yet he did set up a Church and that's the Catholic Church. So, it would stand to reason that the fullness of religion and actuality could be chanced on in the Church that Christ instituted.

The Pope explained that every Christian is a member of the true church of Christ, although some, due to their own lack of faith, defective leadership, or flawed theology, are missing out on a lot of what God wishes for them to have.

The majority of the postings here prove that the Pope is absolutely correct in what he says.

I think he's full of ****. I highly doubt God cares of the differences between denominations. John 3:16 is pretty clear about who's in God's cool book, and I'd say that trumps the word of the Pope.

The pope and the Catholic religion is a joke. Forget that old fool in his fancy robe and pope mobile.

He is just trying to get more members so he can get more money. The Catholic church is full of child molesters and phoneys.

Haven't we about exhausted this topic? Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Salvation is a total work of God, we have nothing to do with it. God chooses out His Church, redeeming them through the blood of Christ, justifying them through Christ, and sanctifying them. We do nothing to gain eternal life. The pope, nor the Roman church, nor any human can determine your salvation, it is of God alone.

I really don't care what the Pope says, he's just a man and I take my knowledge about my salvation from the Bible, not some guy who lives in Italy.
