You should NOT have to wait 6 months. Surgery should be scheduled within weeks of being diagnosed. If you have waited 6 months please see another Doctor for another opinion.
As a breast cancer survivor, I BEG you to make sure it is done NOW.

6 months is to long in any case scenario. In advanced cancer sometimes a patient may need radiation treatments to shrink the tumor or a few rounds of chemotherapy, but absolutely under no circumstances should you wait 6 months. Seek second opinion have questions ready to ask, What specific type of breast cancer , size and what options can be presented. Please see a surgical oncologist, they are up to date on the techniques, and yes you do have options, bring a family member as a good surgeon will have lots to tell you and under the circumstances you probably will not remember all of what is said. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Good Luck

It depends on the type of breast cancer you have and the stage of the disease. If you have advanced breast cancer the disease may be inoperable. Sometimes you will need several rounds of chemotherapy to shrink the tumors before attempting surgery. Your doctor should have answered these questions for you.

Call your doctor and ask him to clarify your treatment plan.

my surgery was within 10 days. During that time I had 5 opinions and discussed all options with the drs. I chose. Don't wait it will only get worse!! I can't imagine a doctor telling you to wait unless it was not a clear positive diagnosis.

NO! Are you getting chemo first? If not, then call the doctor
[ surgeon ].
If no results, call chief of surgery.
If no results, call hospital board - and then the newspaper.
