If we are going to allow 12 million people who entered the country illegally to stay, essentially rewarding them for breaking the law, what should be the price they have to pay? I am not for deporting people, but I feel bad for people who are trying to get in here by following the law. What is the appropriate punishment for those 12 million?

A 2% tax on their income, until the payment of $8000 dollars is reached per family.

8k is part of the Bush immigration plan....I support it....which is unusual since I hate Bush with a passion....but on this I think he is right.

Loook at all these people ranting about legal entry into the US.....NONE of you actually have a clue what it takes to come to the country legally. It's very complex, it's costly, and it takes a long time...... This is the front door to America, which is why so many immigrants risk their lives and freedom to use the back door. The front door isn't accessbile to the poor and uneducated people of Mexico and other countries. If were a simple matter of just filling out a form....don't you think people would just do that ?

Get informed before you start ranting.

After your informed..and you still feel the same way, then you should support removing the signage on the statue of liberty because thats just false advertising.

Instead let's make it read: Bring us your skilled, your healthy, your wealthy masses. PS: if you know anyone willing to cut the grass at the white house, please call 1800-ill-egal ~!

Why all the what ifs the Shamnesty bill failed 200 million USA citizens have spoken it's gone no more.Even if it's throw up again it will be defeated. So Let's think about helping the Cities & States enforcing the laws. Deporting or them leaving on there own is the only options then they can come here legally.Keep the calls & E/mails going Wheres the fence, & close the borders.I believe that they came here under false pretences thinking they would get amnesty. They lost so now it's time to pay there dues.

Speaking in terms of monetary damages that are owed to Americans, one could easily make an argument that there is no price that these illegals could pay because we would essentially be selling America to a bunch of non-Americans. Most of these people aren't Americans and won't be even if they get amnesty. Face it people, they are a bunch of Hispanic people who wish to make America as Hispanic as possible. Being able to hold the title of American is priceless. It should be earned through death. America was formed by death just like many other countries where and America has been defended by it's brave brothers and sisters for many years. If they want America, come fight Americans for it without being cowards. This is an invasion and their troops have been arriving slowly over a long period of time. They cowardly fled their own countries and they will cowardly try to take over ours. Quote me now!....just make sure you quote me before it's in Spanish!...Comprende?

There is no price. No fines. No bribe money. The appropriate punishment is a minimum deportation. You come to this country through legal channels. These people should work within their own countries to make their own countries better. Instead they come here and whine about how bad the U.S. is and it appears by your question you're buying in to it. You've painted everyone as nice people who just want a job and you feel sorry for the. I wish more people would have more respect for our laws. Our justice system is one of the cornerstones of our foundation.

The price for entering illegally is deportation

Deportation, and no return. If I break into your house, are you going to let me back in again? Is it okay with you if I just pay a bit of money, and the I can just live in your home? People who got here legally aren't going to get fines, or deported. Why would we want law breakers to go home then come back again? In the above example would you want me to go back to my home, then come back again? Would you trust me after I broke in once not to break in again?
My father came here LEGALLY and wasn't fined or deported. Nor did he suck our system dry, he worked for every bit of his money. No welfare, no food stamps, no rent paid. Why should everyone else get in for free and get on your public help systems when they don't do it legally?

Hey, Rocco, are you trying to tell me that the illegals kept this country together during the depression? And while our troops are overseas? Really? What part of breaking into our country kept it together through any of the events shown in that you tube video? And the illegals of today helped the slaves? The illegals fought in wars on OUR side? Since when??? AMERICANS kept this country together while our citizens in service fought for us. They didn't fight to open our borders to anyone who wants to come here illegally.
Try another excuse for them not to be punished for breaking the law!

no amnesty- its illegally- return to county they came from
and receive a temp Visa and stand in line like everyone
whom does it legally. Any state that doesn't obey the laws
by protecting illegally all Federal funds should be held back
Any company hiring illegal people should be fined and forced to hire Americans and pay a fair wage.

How about this? Requiring maybe two years of public service. Like Americorps or something. Whatever they can do. But just let them know that they have to serve the people here if they want to become one of them, sort of like the French Foreign Legion used to do. Not going to war or doing degrading labour you know . . . just proving their willingness to work together by doing so.

No bullets, no insults. Just results.

Wouldn't be a bad idea for citizens either, but that will never happen.

Most of the people in favour of deportation probably would not be willing to foot the bill for the cost of identifying, rounding up and deporting all of these people.

i don't think the price is a problem....
maybe 2-3 grand? per?
but only if they have paid their taxes and have no criminal record. i also think the people who have been here the longest should get the deal.
