Maybe, maybe not, won't know until the time is right. I personally think he could be a moderate Muslim, since He has to appeal spiritually to world. Since much of the worlds population are Muslim, or sympathetic to them, I think it is a distinct possibility. And to those who think the pope is the end all and be all, look into the history of the papacy, not very pretty. Let's just say that pope Innocent, wasn't. And, please stop with the Matt. 16:18 passage to try to justify the papacy, do we need to explain the meaning of this verse in the Greek again?

According to some, Pope Benedictus comes before the last pope - Pope Peter.

Whether or not he will be the false prophet is anyone's guess.

No. The False Christ is the next Pope, the 8th.

RC Popes are all antichristian. With that said, what difference does it make if any RC pope is or is not the False Prophet in Rev.....
Jesus Christ made His lambs and sheep to be kings and priests unto God and his Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen (Rev 1:6). And, there is one mediator between God and man: that mediator is Jesus Christ. NOW!! with that said, by what truth does RC popes, or anyone else, have a right to claim they are God's vicar on earth. Good question! He (like most "Papas") does fit as far as their Actions. Time wise he may "Bridge" the "Rapture" and then I would say chances are Very Good that he would be. An interesting side note is that the space for additional Statues of the "Papas" has room for only one more, the current "Papa" who is said to be the "Last Papa", but Scripture does not tell Us and we really don't need to know. Either we are "Saved" & have our "Ticket to Heaven" or we're not! John

Can't be, I met the false prophet (fapro I like to call him) yesterday. Seemed like a nice guy. I think that whole "end of the world" thing is way off base.

Not unless the false prophet holds the keys to the kingdom. Somehow that strikes me as a little inconsistent.

Actually, according to the Bible, he a "seducing spirit" and a "devil".

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: " 1 Timothy 4:1-4

"And call no one on earth your father; for one is your Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called masters; for one only is your Master, the Christ" (Matt. 23:9-10)

The pope and the catholic church forbid certain people from marrying and the pope and the catholic church abstain from meats on certain days and they call the pope Father (actually the word pope means "papa" or "father". These verses were a direct prophesy of the false teachings of the catholic church.

Note: for those of you who would use the argument that we all have fathers on this earth, the verse above is specifically referring to calling religious leaders Father. It is not referring to our physical fathers. Read the verse and the context and you will see that the common catholic argument about earthly fathers to support calling the pope and priest father is invalid and illogical. The false prophet without the anti-christ would be pretty lame.

If you're looking for a false prophet, try looking at the wide array of televangelists and then take your pick.
