So, Misty, when a man who cannot obtain a job steals to feed his starving family because his Christians neighbors refuse to give him any assistance, who's sin and evil is that?
The man for finding himself in an unfortunate situation, or the Christian who should be offering charity? Obviously, it is the Christian who is commiting the worst sin in this case.
Thats the point the poster is trying to make - YOU DONT WANT TO FACE THAT RESPONSIBILITY. Instead, you blame sin and evil. Rather than yourself.

I think you don't understand what the words "sin" or "evil" really mean. Sin is any wrongdoing -whether in thought or in deed. When a person chooses to disobey the law, he is sinning. So all crimes are sins, but not all sins are crimes.
Your statement that crime has other causes than sin makes about as much sense as saying that lawbreaking is not the only cause of crime.
Christians (actually it's from the Bible) say that there are three sources of temptation to sin -the world, our own human desires, and the devil. So no, we don't blame everything on Satan -there is certainly enough blame to place upon ourselves and the people around us to satisfy an explaination as to why people do bad.
Even if the devil or others motivated someone to commit a crime, it does not absolve them of guilt or punishment.

Why do you see sin and evil as scape goats? I don't.
Sin and evil are at the base of all crime, abuse, neglect, etc. So...how does the label change the fact that we have to deal with it?
<<<"frankly, you don't want to be bothered finding out because that might require you to change, perhaps become more christian, and you'd really rather not bother">>>
So, tell me what it is that I don't want to be bothered to find out...cause you lost me.

Mercy and forgivness is what uncovers the causes behind the sin. It is also the cure to most crimes and devient behaviors.
Mercy and forgivness don't take away the sin and evil but give the one who is afflicted of sinning and being evil chances to REPENT.
Do you think an alcoholic wants to be an alcoholic if they could wave a magical wand? The Church has never taught the magical wand will cure all ... rather it is hard work to REPENT and once you make it out of the evil (in my example, alcohal) then you'll be tickled pink and wonder WHY - WHY did I allow myself to be enslaved by that?

No I understand their are many reasons for crime... you need to understand that sin is separation from God, so anything that we do against God is sin, however I don't know why everyone yabbers on about it to non-Christians cause you have no reason to follow God's law for you don't love him nor care that you are breaking His law... The only sin I will state about you whilst you are not a Christian is that you have not accepted God's gift Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour... all the rest will begin to fall away as you turn your eyes upon Him....
satan has no power but which God gives Him...

Now there's a piece of contorted logic. The cause of ones crime is not what one is punished for, but the crime itself. The cause may even have an effect upon the punishment as mitigating circumstances. We all, from time to time, have causes that might result in sinful action, but most of us do not act upon those causes. You seem to assume that someone else is always responsible for anothers cause for committing a crime. How whacked out is that? So, we can chalk you up as a flaming liberal?

In a way, you are correct. The evil men do, and the sins they commit come from our sin nature, our flesh, which is at enmity with God. Sin is an offense against God's holy nature. Satan does not have to "make" someone sin, their flesh does that well enough. But all crime against society or others is rooted in our sin nature, our natural inclination to rebel against God and His laws. Name a crime, and I can tell you the sin behind it.

I am a Christian and I also work in the criminal justice field. Crimes are committed for many reasons, including anger, greed, unforgiveness, abuse, poverty, even boredom. But can you grasp that all of the traits mentioned above have their roots in sin? Read the Bible, especially Ecclesiastes, where it talks about the seven deadly sins.

We don't preach and leave that up to preachers who do. We only are required to share the good news of the Gospel.
God says all sin is punishable by death unless it is covered by the blood of Jesus. Then it is considered forgiven. We are all sinners and it is not our law but God's law.
We have power over satan when we are a child of God's. He gives us that authority.
