Excellent point! Fortunately, most abusive men don't drown, sicken, and slaughter millions, have their own kid beaten and executed, or command their friends to hurt and kill thousands of other people, like the Biblical God does.

Have you had a relationship with God? If not, don't hate on somthing you clearly don't understand.
I love God because of the unconditional love He gives me, NOT because I'm afraid of going to Hell. All the bad things, that happen (rape, abortion, abusive husbands, etc.) are due to the Devil and the power he has over his victims.
So I guess you can compare the Devil to an abusive husband, "A man who beats his wife will treat her like crap and then tell her he loves her. He will mix love with abuse and confuse her and in the end, she loses all self-respect and becomes completely dependant on him to the point where he serves as her eyes, her ears, everything"
Your words are very applicable to the way a Devil has relationships with people. When Eve ate the forbidden fruit, she was convinced that he had cared about her and that eating the fruit would bennifit her. This was not true. Also, when people succumb to sin, they do it because it feels good right? Then that person is a puppet for the devil and He serves as their eyes, ears, and everything. Many are unable to breach from the hold that the devil has because they think good will come out of it, but all that happens is more abuse, torture, and lack of self confidence.
God teaches through love. I was taught that my Lord is very forgiving and loving. He can take someone who was the largest of sinners, devil worshipers, etc, and forgive them if they are truly genuine about their will to change themselves.
So my question to you is, do you realize that you should understand somthing before you try and make a point about it. Thanks for you time and God Bless!

Yours is an interesting interpretation. Religion *can* be a lot like brainwashing and abuse. In Christianity for example, the basic line is "Worship Me or go to Hell". I think many people are religious out of fear. And *free will*? Yeah free will to go straight to eternal torment or worship a deity that sees you as "filthy rags", "Sheep" or a "slave".
However, it is important to do your research. Before you can make educated statements and personal judgements, you must know your subject well.
Anyway, I understand what you are saying---but try not to make sweeping general statements. To some, God is loving. To others he is what you stated. Depends on point of view (or maybe how fundamentalist you are, lol)

Yes, that's a good analogy. This is why churches tell people they are dirty, sinful, and deserve to burn forever for the worst crime of all, being human. The only way to avoid the wrath of God is by complete, unquestioning obedience. I have been in an abusive relationship before, and I tried to justify it with excuses, apologies, and blaming myself. As a former Christian, the two experiences were nearly identical. Now I am with a good man that treats me respectfully, and I also am free from the self hatred taught by a conservative church.

You do realize that there is not much difference between a man who abuses his wife and an atheist.
You are abusive to Christians.

I see you've gotten a lot of angry answers but I think you have a good point...notice the denial, though. An abused spouse will deny that she is abused as well and show unconditional love for her abuser.

I don't agree. God is not abusive. He is loving, kind, and patient. What kind of "abusive husband", would leave heaven and live a difficult life on Earth, be persecuted, and executed in a barbaric way after a murderer was turned lose in his stead, all to save his children?

I have been the abused wife--- my dear -- and you are sooo wrong! No confusion-- maybe in your mind-- not mine
Where you are wrong-- is the Dependency--
I depend on God out of love--
I "never" depended on the sorry excuse of a husband- I feared him!
Large difference!

My God came to earth in the form of a man and suffered a brutal death in my place, to pay the price for my sins that I otherwise would have had to pay. All He asks in return is that I be grateful and love him, then he will return and take me with him to the eternal home that he has prepared for me. Sounds like a loving, caring, protective husband to me.

What do you notice once you look at me Do you notice somebody limited, or somebody loose? All some human beings can do is in simple terms look and stare because of the fact they could't see my hair. Others think of i'm controlled and uneducated they think of that i'm limited and un-liberated. they are so grateful that they do no longer seem to be me because of the fact they could want to proceed to be 'loose.' properly loose isn't precisely the interest i could've used Describing women folk who're cheated on and abused. they think of that i've got not got evaluations or voice they think of that being hooded isn't my decision. they think of that the hood makes me look caged That my husband or dad are completely outraged. All they could do is look at me in concern And in my eye there's a tear. no longer because of the fact I somewhat have been stared at or made exciting of yet because of the fact all of us is ignoring the single up Above. on the Day of Judgment they are going to be the fools because of the fact they have been too ashamed to play via their own regulations. per danger the adult males won't think of i'm a cutie yet a minimum of i'm crammed with greater inner splendor. See I somewhat have declined from being a guy's toy because of the fact I won't permit myself be controlled via a boy. authentic adult males are waiting to savour my suggestions and are not busy finding at my at the back of. Hooded women are those truly helping the Muslim reason The place that we play easily merits applause. i'm going to be recognized because of the fact i'm clever and stunning and because some all of us is stimulated via my sight. The clever ones are attracted via my tranquility interior the back of their suggestions they desire they have been me. we've the ability to do what we predict of is nice regardless of if it ability putting up a existence-long combat. you notice we are no longer controlled via a miniskirt and tight shirt we are given purely appreciate, and not taken care of like airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust. so which you notice, we are those that are loose and liberated we are no longer those that are sexually terrorized and violated. we are those that are loose and organic we are freed from STD's that have no treatment. So whilst human beings ask you procedures you experience relating to the hood in simple terms sum it up via announcing 'infant, its all good!'

Hmm, no. God isn't like that, He loves us, but has to correct us when we sin, same as our earthly father. Think about it, God loved us soo much, He gave up His Son, to die on the cross for OUR sins. Jesus was perfect, He didn't do anything to deserve the death that He died for you, me and everyone. We are dependent on God, as we need Him in our lives for everything. I think you need to find God, and you'll see that He isn't the ogre you are portraying Him to be.
