Unfortunately alot do not preach unity or act to come to understanding about "them". Then there is unity in the search for the truth and there is uniformity that grows out of indifference to seeking truth ,fidelity and love.

Because people don't practice what they preach. It's demons getting into the church, but they don't have to sneak in, they're invited. Gossiping, lying, and all the other little things. People go to church, sit around, and then go out and do the opposite of what they were taught. Then the next week they bring their little demons back with them. People are giving into their carnal desires instead of their spiritual responsibilities. All you can do is pray that it gets better, but it's hard. And the Bible said that it would happen near the end, and it's going to get worse. All you can do is try to stay strong.

Not many religions actually preach unity.
If you are a member of a revealed truth, exclusive church, (god revealed the truth to a messenger who transmitted it to others, and that path is the only path to god) then by definition you can't be pro-unity.
I think what sounds like unity is really a sales pitch to come and join "their" group.

Beats me. That's part of why I'm Pagan - what the Christians said and what they did just didn't match up.
