Who do you guys think is going to win the Chase and be our 2007 Nextel Cup champion?
Personally I'm going to go with the wild card and say Kyle Busch is going to win it. He's been getting pretty hot lately and I believe he has something to prove after Hendrick was so quick to drop him to make room for Dale Jr.

charlie p: While you have a very suspense filled theory on HMS sabotaging Busch, I think that when it all comes down to it his pit crew are the ones who deal with his car and would like him to win the championship just as much as he would. So I think Kyle will be safe, but damn good theory!!! I always have thought HMS was shady LOL.

I am sticking with my preseason prediction of Denny Hamlin. Denny has run very well, up to this point. He has had three wins slip away due to bad luck. He had the three problems on pit row that have probably cost him the win, as he had the best car on them occasions. He had the two problems with his tire changers, that cost him a lot of positions on the track, when he was leading. He also had the one speeding penalty on pit row, that cauesed him to get a stop and go penalty. Jeff Gordon has had some good luck, to this point. That is why he is up front. I think that Denny has pretty much turned his luck around. When the Chase starts, Denny will stay consistent, and finish as this years Nextel Cup champion. Gordon's momentum will slow, and he will finish probably around third place in the final standings. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
I think Kyle Busch is a very good pick as well. I just can not change my pick of Hamlin.

I'm going with Jimmie Johnson. He's had some great cars but not the best luck so far. I think that team knows how to keep things close enough for now and then peak during the chase. He showed he can close the deal with his championship last year and has been in this spot enough to handle the pressure. He's finished 2nd twice and never worse than 5th. If he has a bad race or 2 in the chase then I think it will be Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth or Jeff Burton that will win the cup.

Have to go with my fav. Good ol' #24.But what's interesting is your pick.Do you really think Hendricks will allow a lame duck driver to win the championship?.Especially at the expense of the #24 and #48.If you think little Kyle had no friends or teammates at Daytona wait till the chase begins. His equipment could suddenly become suspect. No way HMS allows Kyle to win the chase.

Hard to see anyone beating Gordon. He's as consistent as anyone, with only 2 finishes out of the top 10 all season. And he's also resilient, considering that it took him all of 2 whole weeks to regain the 100 points NASCAR docked him. And that's without his crew chief.
Unless something causes him to lose focus, or he has a long streak of bad luck, he should win going away.

Gordon all the way. A couple more wins, which I think he might get, could be a hard deficit to over come for the rest of the drivers. I don't agree with the free points but they are there.

Jeff Gordon of course. He has been very consistent through the first half of the season. He is showing the same form as he did in his 2001 championship season. I forsee no slowdown.
