After I get my hair wet, do I just add the gel right away or do I let my hair dry a little bit first?

Depends on the style you want to achieve.
If you want your hair to look naturalish when dry add the gel when your hair is wet.
If you want your hair spiked or something add it when dry because its going to get hard that way.

If your hair is too wet it will be heavy. Depends on style. I used to use it when my hair was nearly dry.
