You are baptized. Yu are justified as a totally free gift. But now you have the faith, are a member of the Mystical Body of Christ -the Church. Do you say, "I'm saved so I don't have to do anything?" No St. Paul clearly states that he had to work for the Lord. Once you are justified you must do "works" and merit a higher place in Heaven. Believe it or not, "Faith Without works is dead"= St. James.
Jesus will say to those at the judgment: "When did you feed me, cloth me, etc"" When you did it to the least of my brethren."
The protestant reformers of the 16th century have badly mislead so many people in this regard. Get of your butt and live the Christian life. Don't just sit around and say "Once saved always saved." Because its not true. You must work out your salvation in fear and trembling - St. paul.
You can't earn heaven, but you have a gift you must use.

There is place for everyone in heaven. O do not know how many people are there already. It might have an empty feeling.
Nobody on earth can claim he has the power to send somebody to heaven or hell. Not even pope B26.
Therefore, I was amazed that some people predicted I would go to hell. Pride goes before the fall, I would say. They try to step in gods shoes. They will be hit by lightning during the next full moon.

Again: I want to give up my right on a place in heaven. I think it will be a dull place full of chagrin, envy, jealousy and bigotry, Walt Disney characters and american politicians.

I wish everybody a nice day, except Mickey Mouse.

Apparently if you strap explosives to yourself and when they go off you take a few innocent people with you then you get 72 virgins and everything you ever wanted.

For the rest of us Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindu's, Sihks etc. you have to earn your place by doing good to others and following the various strictures of your faith.

For the Atheists, there is no heaven and the best you can hope for is to "have a good lunch" while on earth

Ofcourse you have to earn it.The idea that you have to believe someone else died for your sins and you get the heaven for free does not make any sense at all.
If I commited a crime and went to court and in my defence said to the judge 'sir I believe you are a just person and a good person' would the judge then kill his own son and tell me 'you are free to go; your crime has been paid for?'
Has anyone else heard of anything more absurd than this ever?

It is absolutetly FREE. The Bible says in Isaiah that all our good works are like filthy rags. Even if we wanted to earn a spot in heaven. Like anything we do is going to earn us a spot in eternal paradise. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast." One can only except God's gift of salvation to get to Heaven. Thats it. Easy isn't it?

You have to earn it. You must first be born, live the life and die. If you followed the light, truth and way you just might wind up in heaven. Nothing in life is free.

It is a free gift, but that gift must be claimed. So in a sense, one must do some things in order to "earn" one's place in heaven.

No! You cannot earn your way into heaven......aborted babies cant... God just takes them back, children cant . God is fair. The thieves on the cross beside Jesus believed Jesus was the son of God when they saw what happened as they hung there, one asked Jesus if they would go to heaven, because of their belief in Him, he told them that they would be in paradise with him. They hadn't done anything but believe in Christ at the last moment.

All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His FREE Gift of Slavation. Those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven.

You could never earn a place in heaven, no one could, we're simply too sinful. You are given a place in heaven for having faith in God through Jesus Christ.
God bless
