Drinking can lower inhibitions, but can magnify someones personality.
It's hard to say... some people become very quiet, some people become angry, some people become annoying chatter boxes and, yes, some people will feel less awkward.
I'd focus on working on shyness while sober.
Your objective will be to meet new people and chat it up, even if you're shy. Push yourself to grow. It's easy to stay in ones cocoon, but we grow via experience.
Join a club that you're interested in. Go out and meet new people.

I'm shy too well around people I don't know and when ever I was going up to the bar with people I didn't know every well after a couple of drinks I felt more comfortable but you have to be carefull you might want to try it out with just your friends first then go from there.

I know how you feel. When I was younger, I was shy, but when I got my first job, it helped me become more comfortable with talking to strangers. It's taken years, and I'm still what I consider socially awkward, but I'm a heck of a lot better, and I feel better about it.
NEVER DRINK JUST TO LOOSEN UP. That's a bad reason to drink. You could end up making a bigger fool out of yourself, and I wouldn't be surprised if thats how a substance abuse problem might form.
People are more alike than you think. A lot of people are shy when they don't even seem it. They key to not being shy, is to just pretend you arn't. If you are talking to someone new, try to pretend you know them, that they like you and want to talk to you. Smile and shake hands with people you meet. I know it's nerve racking, but once you get through it, you'll feel better about yourself!

It will probably make you look like an ***. There's nothing more obnoxious than a drunk guy trying to loose his inhibitions. Go out with friends or family- safe people- and talk to them. Talk to their friends, even older people. This will help you develop social skills and lose part of your shyness. The rest is up to you.

What would you do if you didnt have anything to drink. I would recommend trying to work on it without the alcohol, but if you are partying a glass of wine will give you a little liquid courage, it should not be something you have to depend on though. We all have our crosses to be bear and this is one of yours.

It will probably help a bit yes. But don`t drink to much. Shyness is the reason to why many drink. If not it would be useless to drink.

Not really a good idea. Drinking can make you act crazy and then if your a shy person the next day could make you feel worse.

It can make you less shy, depends on what kind of drunk you are, it can also make you more shy, or angry or rude. Problem is once you're not drunk anymore you are back to being shy again. Drink responsibly

It will help a little. It tends to bring out your traits and magnify them.
Loud people become louder, sad become sadder, etc.
If you are shy, you may become more shy, but it will defenitely help a little. Be careful though as it can be addicitn.
