I did join. I was disappointed though. The Navy can be a good choice if you don't care about fitness, and don't care too much about the words Team or Camaraderie.
There are some good schools in the Navy, and it can be a good route if you find the right job for yourself, and get lucky enough to work with good people. I just didn't find that for myself.
Good luck.

Yes, tried to. They didn't want someone with prior service. I was in the Army for over 5 years.
I saw the Navy was looking for graphic Designers, and I am one. Thought, what could be better? Serving again and traveling while doing something I enjoy.

Yeah I'm thinking about joining now. They really want me to enlist though the benfeits are comparable to my other choice of becoming an Army officer. I think the Navy will expose me to more travel, but the Army might be more financially lucrative. I'm just hypothesizing.

I did at one point. I even went as far as having a meeting with a navy recruiter who came to my old high school.
But after that meeting-I thought it was really pathetic that he tried to recruit me just because I like flared "bell bottom" pants.
I'm glad I didn't though. I wouldn't have met my husband if I did.
Proud AF Wife.
Gag me now for navy. BLUGH!

Yes, joined in 1983 in the AEF (Advanced Electronics Field) and was an EW for most of the time until we were merged into the CT rate.

Sure. I thought about it back in 1965...and did...and retired 11/85. Twenty years, 2 months, 1 day. I would do it all again!

I did, served 10yrs 6months 23 days. It was a great experience. I would recommend it to anyone. If you serve you will have a huge advantage over those who do not.

Yes! there are many people who has that curiosity, but you know what, they are differently motivated...others to release energy during war while others just for the sake of earning hefty amount of money for the duty attended, but they are always scared of loosing this precious gift - LIFE.
