Did you read the article? lol
"Yeah, I don't think I'll be racing at 41, put it that way," Gordon said. "I don't know about 40." and those were Gordons words. The rest of the stuff at the bottom was purely speculation from the author.

Whooaaaa.....perhaps we need a different perspective here. Is Jeff looking for an exit from the upcoming heat? Dale Jr has the talent and skill to blow all of Gordon's records. I can feel the thumbs down hitting me now, but I am a Junior fan all the way.

i'm a die difficult Earnhardt fan, yet, i'm married to a die difficult Gordon fan! bypass parent. i do no longer cheer while everyone crashes, even however i don't sense actual undesirable while Gordon has automobile issues (he-he), and that i does not waste a Bud to throw it at Gordon. yet i've got faith the competition will survive with actual motive force followers. i assume thats why i'm no longer a "team" fan. each each now and then it variety of sounds like a conflict at homestead while they're racing one yet another, or its an extensive race. So in answering your question, i do no longer think of lots will substitute with the followers! The opposition is exceptionally fierce interior the stands on the races i've got been to.

Gordon will retire after he breaks all Sr.'s records. By then, Jr. will be working at Manny's Car Wash.

I hope he doesn't retire too soon. In 5 years, I can understand. In 2 or 3 years, I don't know if that is such a good idea. I hope Rick Hendrick won't let any other driver step into the #24. That is only Jeff's car. I don't think Junior would agree with it either.

It says that he will retire in 4 or 5 more years ,all of the Gordon Fans already know that. I think it will be in 2 or 3 years but it doesn't matter. If someone gets in the 24 that I like I will go with them and if it is Jr.that is cool with me ! I go for all of Hendrick Motorsports driver so whatever happens happens !

First I would never bow to Jr. and besides Gordon won't go yet. and I could not see Jr. in the #24 car. He wouldn't want to try to live up to what Jeff has done with the car and team. Too big of shoes for Jr to fill.

LOL, I'm sure you read the whole story and not just the headline. It does get your attention though. Tony Stewart will be out of NASCAR long before Jeff Gordon is.

Did you even read the entire article? Evidently not.

"In other words boys and girls, Jeff Gordon will still be racing well into his 40’s, because he knows what made him famous and what continues to keep him famous. Witness 47-year-old Mark Martin, who is not only still racing but is competitive and winning races. And that campers is the key; remaining competitive and as long as Gordon continues to be and there’s certainly no reason he won’t, then look for him to be racing for a long time to come."

"You know, I just want to continue to enjoy it, be healthy and have a good race team," said Gordon. "If at the end of those five years all those things are still happening, then I might sign for another five years. I just can't say."

All his fans are based on what he sells. Once Jeff retires, if they put Jr in that car the talent cut would be unspeakable. You obviously don't know much, but those who know about Nascar would probably tell you Jr is not near the driver Jeff is. I'm not a fan of either, but it's pretty silly to even try to compare the two. As for Jeff's fans they like their driver based on talent and wins and championships, so it doesn't seem like Jr would appeal to them.
