there are chips in the $20 bills and they will explode when you put them in the microwave, but i want to know how long to leave it in there for

Paper does not pop or explode when heated. All it can do is ignite when the temperature approaches 450 degrees. It chars at most warmer oven temperatures. The inks in money will vaporize when heated, and this might make it sputter a bit. If you must try this experiment, the $1 bill would react pretty much the same as any other denomination, and you would know the answer to an odd but interesting question.

I cannot speak fer da others, but da ones I print fer Vinny the Kneecapper and his boys do not explode. Now if youse want a exploding bill, we might arrange somethin. Do ya want it ta boist inta flame or to fragment ?

Sorry... there is no chip or RFID in your bill. Its simply a polyester strip and only used to foil counterfeiters.

But then.. you probably believe this is what "They" told me to say.

No water inside it, or bubbles, so nothing should happen. Its just paper. It may get hot if long enough, so possibility to make it burn. But a long time.
