If the problem will be there tomorrow why get drunk? It dosn't help anything. And why go party and get drunk if you can't even remember anything that went on that night, what is the point? Its like you just black out and just skip a part of life. Its like going to an Island but not even remembering, but the conseqence is worse. You get a hangover and that isn't pleasent I have heard. That and if you have to work the next day you might lose your job and that can't be good either. There really is no point. Plus it ruins your teeth and liver, etc...

Drinking helps relax people by "taking the edge off". Also, it helps people come out of their shell.

However, some people drink to excess to the point they throw-up, blackout or wake up with a hangover. It's the "more is better" mentality. They drink partly out of boredom, larger issues they don't want to deal with, immaturity where they don't know how to control themselves.

Don't know about others but here's why I don't. I don't black out, get hang overs, or drink when I have to work the next day. I also never drink when angry or to shut out other feelings. Having a couple drinks just relaxes me on the weekends and gives me the guts to dance in front of people (stage fright, not a bad dancer). Plus I like the taste of the drinks I get.

It's more about drinking responsibly than it's just stupid a stupid idea. Most teens seem to think having a drink means you have to be drunk. Drinking isn't all about getting drunk. A happy buzz is by far better.

I don't drink that much and when I do I never get drunk to the point that I end up forgetting the next day, I have control over myself. If anything I just get more bold and lose my shyness but never to the point I offend anyone by what I say. I never get a hangover either because I drink a lot of water after I have my limit. Drinking is fine, just know your limit and don't drink when you are upset.

Not everybody blacks out when they drink. I haven't blacked out in 7or 8 years. It is just something to do to help you relax and forget about your problems for a while. Some drink cause they like the taste, others for the warm comfortable feeling they get inside. Some treat it as a social activity. Personally I drink because I enjoy the feeling of being drunk.

It is possible to drink without getting drunk. I drink because I like the taste of certain drinks. I also drink because it's part of how I socialize (hang out with friends at a bar), and yes, a drink or two will help me relax.

Abusing alcohol, what you describe above, is a different story.

It sounds like you haven't had alcohol, so I don't think it's fair of you to say there is no point.

There is a difference drinking socially and someone who has a problem with alcohol. Your description sounds like an Alcoholic. Not everyone blacks out. Or gets sick.
There are plenty of people who drink and are responsible about it.
Its a disease for alcoholism, There is no reason why because an alcoholic does not need a reason to drink. They just do. You want to learn more about alcohlics go to a meeting or read up on the Disease itself.

the reason why i drink is to have a good time and i usually remember everything unless i pass out. Its fun to go out to a party ad have a good time, also everything seems to be so much funner when i drink. It is also pretty funny to trade stories with your friends the following day on how drunk you were and all the thingss you did that night. becuase even if you dont remember somebody most always does!!!

unfortuneately some people drink b/c they like it and others drink b/c it's a disease that can't be cured, however it can be controlled. It's just a matter of when that person hits there bottom(lowest point) and sincerely have the desire to stop. no one can tell or control a person's drinking habit/addiction but u can be a true friend by offering support to the person in the time they wish to receive help

It would be easier, cheaper and less damaging to your health to just run, very fast, head first into a wall. same effect, blackout and headache. If you want to drink, do it in moderation and because you enjoy it. There's nothing wrong in having a beer with good Chinese food or a glass of white wine with a good plate of pasta. But the point is making it better and more memorable, not forget all about it.

err, is blacking out that common? I like to get drunk with friends but I remember everything the next day, and hardly ever get hangovers (always try to stay awake and sober up before I go to sleep)
