I got my nose pierced about a week ago, and the piercer warned me not to go swimming for about 2 months until the nose fully heals, so it doesn't get infected. I was wondering, does swimming mean just in just pools because of the chlorine or can I swim in a lake as well? Please Help! Thanks :)

He means any body of water: pools, lakes, ocean... it doesn't matter. Large bodies of water carry bacteria, naturally and from other swimmers. It's best not to go in the water.

* Avoid submerging the piercing in bodies of water such as lakes, pools, jacuzzis, etc. Or protect your piercing using a special waterproof bandage* such as Tegaderm, which is available at drugstores.

You will be fine to go swimming in a lake. That's if you want a big red puss filled infection on your nose!!! DONT DO IT!!!!

Theres too many nasty things in a swimming pool with all the chlorine to kill it off let alone a lake with all kinds of bacteria from dead and rotting animals and the like.

You could do it and be fine but I wouldn't risk it. you can lose parts of your nose from stuff like that.

I'd say no. esp. a lake, where it's full of bacteria n such.

at least in a pool all the bad stuff is killed by the chlorine.

but, to be extra sure, call up the piercing place.

A lake would have more organisms in it than a pool, possibly creating an infection. Better safe than sorry.

why dont people follow directions after a professional has told them what to do? If the person who pierced you told you not to swim for 2 months then why dont you LISTEN??? To go against the advice would be stupid.

i think the peicer meant swimming in general. sure, theres no chlorine in a lake, but theres all kinds of other stuff in there, too. if you do go swimming, just dont get your head underwater.

I personally don't think that it would matter if you swam in a lake, because of the minerals and natural water, but you should listen to your peircer. Ask him if lakes are OK.
