Here's the unfortunate part - you are a civilian now, and have to play by "civilian rules" set by our politicians. The value of our lives, and our judgement is wrongly held to less of that than law-enforcement.

So what I'm saying is, "less than lethal" rounds are hard to come by because technically "we" aren't supposed to pull a gun or shoot someone until our back is against a wall with a knife at our throat. In which case you better be ready to use deadly force and kill your attacker and even then you have to be ready to defend yourself in court. One side to a story isn't much to argue, but if your attacker is alive he'll make every excuse for why he is in your house and how you attacked him. With today's legal system you'll get burned by some lawyer or DA that kisses the bad-guys ***.

This is just today's politically correct liberal reality.

I don't agree with it.

But as a "friend to a friend" I'm telling you, that you'll save a lot of hassle only using your shotgun to defend inside your house, and if you do need it, using the most lethal round you can find. Dead criminals don't lie, or get out to commit more crime.

Any shotgun will do for the rounds you listed. Try searching under exotic ammo or blammo ammo and see what you come up with. Most of those rounds they sell come in 3 packs, and are not cheap. I have seen Dragons Breath 12 gauge, flechette, bolo rounds, tracer, bean bag, rubber pellet, liquid tear gas etc on these sites.

I have used alot of them when I was still a policeman and their uses can be limited and alot of states will not allow them to be shipped to you.

Like I said, expensive for 3 rounds and shipping can be high as well. You may end up paying about 7 bucks a shell for some of this 12 gauge. I just cant recall the site names but they are on the internet.

Any cylinder bore 12 gauge will work. These can be had new for under $200.00

Lots of people sell a variety of less-lethal 12 gauge rounds ranging from paintballs, beanbags, rubber 00 shot, single or multiple .60 caliber rubber balls, little rubber rocket-looking things, etc.

At work we buy a lot of these types of shot with powdered OC or CS in with them.

I don't know if the general public can purchase the rounds with the chemical agents, but you should be able to buy the plain rubber shot, I think.

We buy it from ALS Technologies in Arkansas. Check out their website.

Any 12 gauge pump shot gun will fire these rounds. you just have to find a supplier for the ammo. However, these rounds are still lethal projectiles at close range, just keep that in mind. And Law Enforcement company will sell then one being www.galls.com

Generally, you don't need a specific gun, you need specific ammunition and an ordinary gun. Many less-lethal types of ammunition are available for 12 gauge - it is an ordinary shell with an ordinary primer and an ordinary powder charge (usually less than typical) with an unusual payload. So get yourself a cheap shotgun and then look here for the ammo...

Go with the shotgun. Salt Rock and rice is a good option if you cant find rubber bullets.

I know that sportsmansguide.com has door breaching rounds for a 12gage.

I would think that they will be your best bet as they sell ammo that I cant find anywhere else including tracer rounds.
