I would recommend to ask a bar tender where ever you go out at. Tell them what kind of drinks you are looking for(sweet, strong, etc...) and they will be able to make something for you. A lot of bars will call things by different names and some may not have all the ingredients for some drinks.
A couple that I really like are
Strong--Jack and coke, Jim Beam and 7-up
Sweet-- Jolly Ranchers(it has 6 different puckers and maui fruit punch. leaves an after taste of a jolly rancher.), hawaiian long islands
Shots--Chocolate cake,jager bombs,cherry bombs,and apple jacks
I work part time in a bar so I have tried a lot of drinks and I would say that those are the top 2 strong and sweet ones that I like.

Mix half lime juice with sugar- two table spoons. Add chipped ice and a measure of white rum or vodka- the best would be cachaça but I don't think it will be easy to find. stir and enjoy. Drink in moderation.

It depends greatly upon what you like to drink without alcohol, and whether you like the alcohol to be strongly represented in your drink.
I'd start simple, with a bourbon and coke, Cape Cod (vodka and cranberry), or a Tequila Sunrise (tequila, orange juice, grenadine).
If you like something really sweet, get a daiquiri or pina colada.

i discovered a drink that i love very much now. it is called Pink Flamingo.
use the following:
dash of coconut rum (it could be any brand..i usually use Malibu)
dash of Disaronno liqueur
2 parts pineapple juice
2 parts of cranberry juice
shake the ingredients and strain into a tall glass filled with ice.

Try a Purple Rain or an Apple Martini, but be responsible when drinking.

Tom Collins, or vodka Collins, they each have a mellow limeade taste, but depends on the amount of alcohol goes in.

Screwdrivers, Cape cod or a Madras to start then you could drink some liquor mix with tonic.

My widespread is vodka and pineapple or vodka bitter. i recently tried a drink at my family individuals's abode on Thanksgiving referred to as purple Panties ..... very reliable frozen drink. Lemonade focus, candian whiskey, coolwhip, water, and ice. spectacular drink!
